The BNP member list was recently leaked and I have a link that shows you the closest 20 entries (postcode + name) but, probably shouldn't be posting that haha.

As much as I utterly despise the BNP, they are entitled to the same rights of free speech as anyone else is. Besides, I'm sort of looking forward to seeing them thrust into the spotlight where they can be openly questioned and discredited.

So the debate is over.

Pity, really. The BNP could have properly been questioned, but instead everyone released a flood of garbled, and sometimes childish questions, getting mixed up and confused with their own statements. If you're going to ask him something, let him respond. Wasted opportunity. -_-

I think you should let them, because:

A) You can call them out on their bullshit and morally crush them using cold, hard logic.

B) You can organize the burning of swastika and defacing of Hitler's portraits outside.

C) If things go south, you can just throw rotten tomatoes and bricks at them.
I vote (A) and i'll have prize 125G, my guess is the car is worth £12.595...

But yeah i agree with statement A.

Controversial doesn't have a negative or posotive notation it simply means that something is discussable, you could consider almoust anything on this website controversial that doesn't mean it's all politics and I am well aware that free speech is a very good thing. Perhaps you didn't understand the light heartedness of my post or maybe my sense of humor is not approptiate for this thread so I am sorry for any misunderstanding[spoiler/]... duh...[/spoiler]

Agreed. By stopping them from doing what they have every right to do (Discuss their policies with the public) we are giving them a chance to claim unfair treatment which can be more damaging.

Let them talk, let them explain their policies, and trust that the majority of British people are not stupid enough to follow a bunch of racist, homophobic bigots.
The problem here is the British people contains a lot of racist, homophobic bigots, or as they are more commonly known, "old people". If our older generations and some of our more senior pub-goers and taxi-drivers were to post in this here thread we it would look considerably less one sided. I am personally worried that giving this man a platform to spout his shite is going to increase his vote, and thus will make some of the more extreme elements of the Tory party think that they could get those votes by becoming more BNPish themselves, thus let extremism in through the back door.
All the better. Last thing we need is a Tory government in an economic recession.

[HEADING=1]UPDATE: QUESTION TIME[/HEADING]

Okay then, so the BNP recently appeared on Question Time on the BBC and, to cut a long story short, they faced a lot of abuse. Nick Griffin himself was questioned by people in the audience and on the panel about the BNP policies and crowds of people were protesting outside the BBC studios where the show was being filmed. What do people think of that? And does this have any implications on the question of allowing the BNP to speak in Leeds should they so choose?

I think that the protestors are very hipocritical as thay are wanting to supress a genuine political party in a democratic country so they them selves have facist veiws and so they might as well go and join the BNP :)
TBH i hate the the BNP but we cant stop them speaking or else we no longer have a "true democricy"

They weren't really questioned on their specific policies, it was more "why are you so racist?". There was no mention of any of the other stupid policies like the BNPs support of the death penalty, national service and complete isolationism or them wanting to reunify with Eire. It was like nobody there had even read the policies of the BNP.

They were not only incorrectly questions, they were not even allowed to answer the questions they were asked. People wouldn't just shut up and let the idiot say his piece. The best form of defense against the BNP is good information about them, none of that was allowed to come out.

As for talking at Leeds? Bad idea. Leeds has a large Islamic population and a militant anti-Islamic population which have clashed before. Letting this idiot say his piece there would be like giving a pyromaniac the keys to a fireworks factory.

Ethnic british being defined as white anglo-saxon from the UK or Ireland only. Trivun wouldn't be a full citizen to them, he's part Serbian, so not ethnically british. Neither is anyone who is black, asian, far eastern and so on, it's an incredibly narrow, discrimnative (and in my opinion dangerous) view.
That's actually a very good point. I'm partly Serbian simply because my grandparents emigrated to the UK years ago and met here, my dad and uncle were both born in Britain, but even though they were born and raised here and I was born and raised here, I would still be kicked out, into a country I've never been to, don't know the language of, and know almost nothing about. And that is a major problem.
I'd be the same, but I'd get forced to Greece. The weather'd be better, but I don't think I'd cope well.

As for allowing them on campus, go for it. Like we went to a Plaid Cymru speech at Aberystwyth when they were saying only Welsh people should be allowed to study there. It was... interesting, seeing their reaction!

Why, of course!

The BNP may not have the same opinions as me, but blocking them out is as wrong as any clampdown on people's political veiws.

If they're wrong, invite them anyway, them beat them down fair and square. You needn?t silence them, only prove that they're wrong

Yes there are many things wrong with what the BNP stand for, but people voted for them for a reason. I did watch the discussion on Question Time, and I felt the arguments, and the public audience were specifically selected as to not allow support (if any) towards Nick Griffin.

For example if Gordon Brown had been on, there would have been a range of public voters from both conservative supporters and labour supporters. Why were there no BNP supporters in the audience, yes I am sure there are some out there?

The topic I did agree on however was the question of Immigration in Britain, and personally believe that is why the BNP gained so much support because some people are generally sick of everyone coming here, and what they are entitled too. I believe this is the only reason that the BNP gained support. But I do think it was wrong the way he was questioned and treat, he was not allowed voice?

They wanna talk about their policies go right ahead. People with their morals right won't be persuaded anyway to be with them.
