Ok heres the situation: I'm in my final year of school and I'm faced with a tough choice. To quit Graphics or not.

I didn't do graphics in year 11, but I got A's in all the previous years so I was allowed to do it in year 12. Now I am in Graphics though, it's changed a lot. I missed a lot in grade 11, and I don't enjoy it anymore. While I orignally decided to do it in year 12 because it would give me job opportunities, now I can't imagine working in graphics it's so boring. :/

The way things are graded here in Australia, Queensland is that they take the best 5 out of your 6 subjects score. If I drop graphics, I'll get study halls in it's place. This means I'll have more time to study and possibly increase my other subjects marks. However, If I drop it, all of my other 5 subjects will count.

My dad wants me to continue Graphics but I really have no respect for him anymore so his oppinion isn't a factor. Mum is cool whatever.

So what would you suggest? To keep Graphics, and have one subject as a 'backup' if I fail others or to drop it and get extra study time for other subjects but have no backups?

EDIT: I want to be a psychologist when I grow up, not sure if that affects anything but eh.

I hate to play voice-of-reason, but are you planning any kind of solid future on this? That's what you have to worry about most. Unless you already have a career in mind...

Since you're going for Psychology graphics is not going to help you right now in High school.
You should drop it, and if possible take another option, if not focus on your core subjects because that is what colleges will look at regardless of how good you are in graphics.

Good luck :)

Drop it, having a study peroid to finish your work before you get home is great. Or in the case of my 12th year (we take 8 courses a year) I dropped 2 and had movie periods in the library. Still got into the program I wanted to though. (Now I take 10.5 courses a year)

Never quit.

Seriously, shove on.
I agree.
Never quit. Never give up.
It's the only way to achieve anything with life. It's also quite easy to explain why too.
If you decide to drop anything, its one less skill, and one less thing you can do in your life, and I'll tell you one thing - it's awesome to have the power of choice! Also, as you described, you would receive one more room to make a mistake so it's a bonus. Give it your best and you'll get there one way or another!

If you have no interest in it and it doesn't further goals, shove it. Seriously, what's the point? Learning without practicality or interest is pointless.

Stay with the graphics. You may need it after university, especially if psych. degrees are anything like they are here in Canada - i.e. virtually worthless unless you get a PhD.

Seriously. It qualifies you to do nothing in the field, really.

so, unless you're planning on getting that PhD, I'd step back and re-evaluate your plans.

/Your dad might not be so stupid after all. ;-)

Mmmm...
Well, I'm sorta in your shoes with German; I can drop it in year 13, and I'll probably fail my exam this year, but I think you may as well push on. Just don't pump massive amounts of effort into it, I guess:]

Having some experience in graphics is a pretty good idea.
Stick with it, even if you don't like it.

I really dislike my psychology course, but I'm sticking with it because I'll never know how I can use the information I learn.

I don't know about your country but any amount of "confirmation" for certain subjects would help.

Quick question do you mean graphics as engineering graphics or artistic graphics I can help you with engineering graphics, maybe give you a little foresight. I'm two years into an egr degree.
