all of the albums are awesome. Serj's cd was great, and if they really are getting back together next year, I can't wait.

Their first album was definitely their weakest, but they got progressively better from there, although I actually find toxicity to be spotty. The title track and Chop Suey especially are just rather bland compared to the insanity found in Steal This Album, for instance. Really, I think it was the crazy stuff, like the vowel song or "Vicinity of Obscenity" and so on where System really shines, musically.

Gotta say when I first heard them I thought "Oh its a New metal Mr Bungle!" Which is by no means a criticism, I also think they are heavily influenced by Frank Zappa. I enjoy all the albums but the first one still holds a special place in my heart as Sugar was the only tune that broke the rap metal monotony of an evening out at the local metal club!

Scars on Broadway however are not at all as good, Serj's solo work is alot better than that! But I always follow the singers career rather than the band!

I really just liked Toxicity. Despite the other things that I listen to, that album is just.. wonderful. I only dislike one song on there, which is an absolutely stunning ratio compared to most other albums.

Personally, the current record-holder for best album ever is Between the Buried and Me's "Colors"

Would anyone want to send me a message on other really good albums? Like, all good songs? I want to know what everyone else thinks.

the first album was so fucking killer

the second album sounds a little dated to me now, but I think i just got sick of hearing those singles - it's generally damn good

now i'm really just sick of them, and i'd rather listen to serj's solo work which is brilliant

It's admittedly an excessive album - really REALLY excessive, and a really REALLY excessive band - but they know how to put all those different styles to work and it never sounds like a joke. You may just be right!

Their debut album, Toxicity, and Steal This Album were my favourites. Mesmerize and Hypnotize... not so much.

I'm loving Serj's solo project, but not too big on Scars On Broadway.

Sounds like a symphony to me. The whole thing just blends right together to make some beautiful, beautiful artwork. Especially that one bit in.. ehm.. either Sun of Nothing or Ants of the Sky where they break into the bluegrass ho-down thing. I laughed until I was crying when I first heard it.

The only album I really like was the first one...after about the third one it sounded like all they did was get really really....really high and play whatever came to their heads and try to put everything together...well that's what I think anyway...lol

Well put Sir Doki.

Their first two albums are just.. Wow. Steal This Album is okay but nothing like their earlier work. After that they just went downhill, apart from 3 or 4 songs between them, I hated everything on Mesmerize and Hypnotize.

I'll be honest, I've only heard the album from a friend's car stereo, so I don't know the exact part you're talking about, but I know exactly what you mean. A lot of people would laugh uncontrollably until they could turn it off, but for tolerant types like us it's too much fun. :) We're talking about Between the Buried and Me, btw. /threadjack

Really, even if you have to pirate thing album right off of the internet, get it. All 67 minutes are amazing.

That's the fifth well-informed enthusiastic recommendation I've heard for this album in the last year... I think it's time I took the hint!

While I'm here I'll say something on topic: anyone who hasn't heard the first eponymous SOAD album should do the same, listen to it ASAP! More diverse and creative than Toxicity, with even better production by Rick Rubin!
