I missed the anime line up it had. It was what basically got me into it. Outlaw Star, Tenchi, DBZ, and Gundam Wing. Good times.
so true, so true

Oh Yeah, I remember Toonami. When I first hooked up with Foxtel it came on in the evening and I remember seeing my first serious anime then. It was something about the end of the world and water level's rised really really high and the main character's traveled around fighting bad guy's in a submarine. Can't remember what it was called, anyone know what show I'm talking about? And no, it's not Water World.

No, I do not miss it. It was not really important to me as a child. Sure it did allow me to catch up on all sorts of episodes of Static Shock, Batman Beyond and others I missed the first time around, but I do not need it anymore. Youtube and the internets provide me my cartoon fix.

As for Cartoon Network not having cartoons anymore, I have to disagree on that statement because it is simply not true. I scanned the next seven days on TVguide.com and I saw only 14 hours of programming devoted to non cartoons. For the record, there are 168 hours in a week. Minus the 56 hours used for Adult Swim, that means 100 hours of their week is devoted to cartoons. Sure they maybe cartoons you hate, but it does not change the fact that there are cartoons on there.

I miss the way it was when it was at its best, not the way it was towards the end of its "life." I wasn't giving a fuck about Ben 10, Totally Spies, Code Lyoko, or any of that drivel.

Back when we got great shows like Dragon Ball Z, Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo!/Universe, Gundam Wing, G Gundam, ReBoot, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, and so forth? Fuck yeah, I miss it.
Yes, Toonmai was quite awesome. Why does everything I like have to die or be taken off the air?

RIP

EDIT: Woops, missed the word toonami.

I never really watched toonami. Except DBZ
Along with "Billy and Mandy", and other great cartoons that were replaced by things like "Flapjack".

Toonami was so-so to tell the truth. 80% of it was horrific plot-hole ridden toons with only one aim - sell related merchandise.
but it worked. I personally miss Toonami. I still remember the day it started, what grade I was in and the fact that the bus was late and I just barely got home at 4pm when it started[footnote]although I apparently totally forgot about Moltar being the host for 2 years. I really don't know what that is all about[/footnote]. It had a good 11 year run, but the shows started to deteriorate after a certain point (may have been the goal of Toonami to get the ratings to dip). In the end it may have been for the best.

p.s. I do agree about the Johnny Bravo comments. That was definitely a show I could never write and typically when I can't write a show I regard it as good.

I don't miss Toonami at all. The only thing I miss about it is Cowboy Beebop, one of the very few anime shows I can stomach., and actually liked.

Adult Swim was great for a while now it's pretty much King of the Hill, Family Guy reruns usually back when it was actually good, and crap the rest of the night.

Crap until they do the rest of the Venture Brothers and Metalocolypse season.. near the middle of the damn year.

King of the hill is nice, but two episodes back to back.. I got tired of it pretty quickly.

Ah, Toonami. I remember bugging the crap out of my mom to take to my grand-ma's so I could watch DBZ with my cousin all those years ago. I will miss Toonami. The real Toonami, with Tom (Tom 2), not the weird Naruto Toonami with creepy as hell robot things as the hosts. Did moms really have it changed because it scared small children? How small? If they're, uh, 5 or under they shouldn't watch it. If they're older than that they need to grow a pair (figuratively of course). Ah well, I'm screaming at a grave stone long since grown over.

Edit:
@ guy before me: Don't forget AS is getting a new season of Boondocks.

I think that it represents the 90's and early 00's, it is something to remember at the time...nostalgia is one of the greatest feelings, and why would you want to spoil that with the 4kids crap they would have to put on nowadays.

But I did give Toonami alot of cred because they editted out the shit that was bad for kids, and kept it as close as possible to the original product...mostly! But DBZ, and Yu Yu Hakusho were not murderered and raped like Yu-gi-oh.

But I digress! I think CN is dead...LONG LIVE ADULT SWIM!!!! But after AS dies...they don't have anything.

And does anyone else think that they are catering to an entire generation, because they have Toonami to show some of the anime, get rid of it, then show it when kids who were about 7 at the time of 2000 to the kids who are now 16 and able to watch AS more or less as adults.

RIP Johny Bravo....RIP Batman Beyond(I never understood you at your time, but now, I can only long for you), RIP DBZ (You have done more in life that possibly any other anime EVUR), RIP Yu Yu Hakusho (I never watched you much, but when I did, I enjoyed a laugh and a good action scene), RIP Toonami(I was eager for your friday movies every week, hulled me over as a child).

RIP Toonami, you can rise from the ashes, you just need time!
