Firefox and Google Chrome seem to be the best ones. Explorer is for businesses and Netscape is for losers.

All around I'd say Firefox is the most versatile.

Chrome will eventually match Firefox, but it needs to mature a little.

Opera is not bad, but it doesn't really have anything to offer that is head and shoulders above the other browsers.

The proprietary ones simply can't compete. Safari is marginally better than IE because it at least attempts to match the other's features. However, the Safari experience on PC just doesn't fit, so this is only really relevant on the Mac.

Lastly, Internet Explorer? You must be joking.

Chrome, I love the minimalistic approach.

Firefox may have a million possible plugins, but Chrome comes with almost all the cool features I want.

Firefox has a similar feature somewhere, I just can't remember what to put in for it.

And as for me, Chrome has become my favorite after randomly trying it out. I was a big Firefox user, but I just never really used anything with it to make it fully worth it for the addons. I just like Chromes interface a bit more, and I love the speed difference.

Firefox - developer plugins. Developer plugins! Violence and blooooodshedddd!!!

Chrome - testing purposes, and as 2nd browser window for miscellaneous stuff while violence and bloodshed is occurring in Firefox.

IE - because some people still use it, and so we have to test, and then make special tweaks to ensure things look ok in it. Standards? What uses those? Not IE, that's for sure.
I read somewhere that IE can't render CSS properly. Is this still the case with IE 8?

Firefox rules. With the newest version, I can pretty much always recover my tabs whenever my computer freezes. Which is fairly often.

I really do like Chrome now a lot better than Firefox. Mostly because Chrome doesn't crash on me every couple of minutes like Firefox did strangely.

Firefox. Haven't tried Chrome, but I really need the extra security seeing the stupidity I tend to act upon in my current sleep deprived state...

I've found no difference between IE7 and IE8 from the development side; we still have to use the same alternate sets of CSS just for IE to display pages the same way as Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, etc.

So, as you said, IE is Microsoft's way of giving Standards the middle finger.

I stopped using IE when the "security breaches" issue went public. I have not looked back since. I loves me some Chrome and Firefox.
