This is the place where we all share our memorable moments and/or discuss pros and cons and other general talks about the legendary 1995 game which helped make modern RTS games what they are now, and in some cases even surpasses some modern games gameplay-wise to this day

So share your thoughts below!

I played TA: Kingdoms if that counts. Was a fun game, but still have not beaten it. the difficulty spike around mission 27 or sometime like that is a pain in the ass. I should try again sometime.

Never heard of it, was it an arcade game?

ARM FTW! I don't play it much now, but when I do, I'm playing as the ARM 95% of the time, with the majority of my forces being aircraft and Kbots. This is because the ARM tanks are weaker than their CORE counterparts, although if you can get some effective micro going with some spider bots, it can even the odds somewhat. I never really got into TA Spring, as my net connection is flaky at best when it comes to playing games online.

One of my fondest memories of the campaign, at least, was hitting the unit cap on the final mission by building ten or so moho metal mines, 7 or 8 of the high level power generators, an air factory, 5 advanced air factories, some base defences, an advanced radar and the rest was filled with Brawlers. Lots and lots of brawlers. Enough to wipe the entire map clean in one fell swoop.

Supreme Commander was the spiritual successor to Total Annihilation and they stuck to the recipe pretty well in my opinion. I remember the epic battles you used to be able to get, playing as either faction. Ugh, a friend of mine was so good at that game. I swear, I have no clue how he was able to pump out so many of those damnable flash light tanks before I even had 5 light laser towers up. I'll get him for it someday! I'll get you Gadget! er wait.. no that's not right.

Not even close.

The original TA was way better then TA kingdoms.
And was also better then Starcraft, and Command and Conquer.

I loved that game. Probably one of the best 2D RTS games I've ever played.

I remember that game well, I kept getting killed by the enemy before I figured out how to make the vehicles.
After that, I always blitzed the opponent with bombs, 'cause I loved everything exploding into the sparkly, shiny, glittery... lost my train of thought.
But the explosions were cool then.

The first PC we ever had, it came free as a disc with a load of other stuff in the package. Even though I love most modern RTS's now, TA is always the one I go back to. I absolutely loved it, though as a kid I wasn't that good at some of the later levels and missions. But I still enjoy it today... :D

I still have my copy of it and I still play it. It fits in extremely nicely with my game play over graphics argument as it is still one of the best real time strategy games compared with the hundreds of extremely lame games that companies continue to pump out. Supreme commander is good, TA is better.

Wow! Spooky! I just played a bit of Total Annihilation yesterday for the first time in many years! I found a stash of old CD-ROMs at my parents' house, and that was one of the forgotten gems I dug up, along with Space Quest, Transport Tycoon and The 7th Guest.

One of the reasons why I really liked Supreme Command is that it really reminded me of Total Annihilation.

...and yet it never quite caught on, except for a somewhat fringy cult following. I wonder why that is.

I still have the moldy box lying around somewhere. Only thing I remember is that you could design your own units, the epic classical music score and the name Chris Taylor pops up aswell. Tried TA: Kingdoms but it had some major performance issues on most rigs, including mine.

T'was AMAZING. required quite a bit of modding to reach full potential though. (mostly the 2,000 unit cap mod).
