I'm going to say I like his videos, although I haven't watched that many, mainly for his voice. Yeah, stupid reason, but I don't care.

I didn't watch him for his criticism and reviews of games. I watched TB and Jesse Cox play Terraria for the fun.

I used to be subscribed to him, unsubscribed a while back. He calls himself "Cynical" when he is simply being a rude prick. He is far too willing to attack others to make himself look good. The disdain he has for his (admittedly mostly stupid) viewers just makes him unpleasant, even if much of it is justified. Simply speaking, he is very childish when facing a perceived slight, and oozes unjustified arrogance.

Which is a shame, because other then that stuff, his content is quite good for the most part. I have bought a few games based of his recommendation, and avoided more based on his warnings. Oh well. I'll peek into his channel in a few months and see if anything as changed.

A while ago, after someone criticized his video and most people defended him, he was just commenting on twitter how nice escapist users are are then Susan called him a whiney git or something lol.

I like most of his stuff but his over the top criticism of Bioshock Infinite was wrong. He was being an FPS snob and complaining about recoil and stuff.

Also I sometimes want to shout "NO! FOV gives YOU motion sickness. Its a very rare condition that just you have and no one else cares about!"
But apparently there are quite a few people that have it.

I am subscribed to him, and I watch his videos on occasion.

That said, his personality can overwhelm and drown out his opinions sometimes.

I like his videos and find his reviews quite informative, but I don't agree with some of his opinions. Like - "Dear Esther is not a game". Wonderful argument. Does being a not-game make it automatically bad? Different kind of games for different people.
But... that's what he said. He doesn't like Dear esther because it's not a game. He never said it was bad or people are dumb for liking it, just that he didn't like it and thought they marketed it wrong.

OT: He's a bit of a dick sometimes, but his video's are pretty informative and I like how indepth he goes. He's introduced me to a lot of games I really like, and his playthroughs with the Yogscast and Jesse are really funny. The content patch is one of the best gaming news series on youtube IMO.
I feel the same way. I do like watching his videos even if I don't 100% agree with him. I'll sit through his complaining as I've heard worse in other places so, comparatively, he's not that bad to me. I don't watch all of his videos, especially if they cover new or a game that are of no interest to me. I might listen in for a moment, but once I get bored, I just move on. Also, I love his interactions with Jesse. They play off of each other so well, IMO.

I'm a really big fan actually. It might be fanboyism but I think I can distinguish myself from that because when he makes a comment that people find arrogant or insulting it's usually aimed at the type of people I don't like myself, or at a post I thought was stupid anyway. We also happen to have similar tastes in stuff, for example I played Bioshock Infinite at a friend's place before I saw any reviews of it and thought his WTF is? was spot on.

I'm not even really a PC gamer and I like him. I like his WTF is when he does multiplatform games, because my laptop can barely handle Civ 5. I like his Content Patches and for some reason, his StarCraft videos. I'll never play the damn thing, but its fun to watch when he casts them.

I hate when he bitches about FOV and options menus. Us console gamers play with the hands we're dealt. I'm sorry he gets a headache, but I don't need to hear it every other review he does. And poor him, sometimes getting less than 60 frames the poor soul. He just sounds so petty about stuff like that.

I find his "character" a little grating at times but all told his production values are good and he does put a lot of effort into the variety of shows he puts out there if you aren't interested in one thing or another. I could give two shits about starcraft but his wtf's and the podcasts he does with other people are good.

Edit: And I agree with his FOV rants. If you do a PC game, at least put in the extra effort to put in a fov slider for people who get motion sickness. It doesn't even have to be official just a optional patch otherwise you are basically saying, "our game is soooooo awesome you should be willing to punch yourself in the stomach every minute to keep playing" I'm not personally affected by it but my roommate is and it sucks to have to take breaks every five minutes just to play a damn game.

I like his content, I just don't like him personally. I can appreciate "WTF Is...", I've found some games I'd otherwise never have given a second look at.

Dude is awesome, pretty honest, feels committed to bringing good games to the light, he helps his wife run an entire E-Sports team, he supported his wife when she decided to make a private tournament that actually means the SC2 ladder means something. He's always ready to sing Husky's praises. He can be abrasive sure, but I think the internet would be a better place if people chose not to be offended by so many people. You can just not have an opinion and this stuff doesn't have to be personal. I'm not perfect and I'm sure my personality pisses extroverts off for not being decisive and outgoing enough. His quirks are more than balanced out by him constantly trying to bring out their best in our industry, e-sports and otherwise. There are plenty of youtubers who got their start thanks to him. I'm pretty sure Errant Signal owes a lot of it's renown to a Total Biscuit bump

And he's got a good accent. You've got to dig that.

On occasion, I go to this terrible frigid land, where gods were said to rule in the past. Not so godly, once you learn they were "removed" by being thrown off a cliff. I mostly use Totalbiscuit to feed the local small furry creatures.

Worth it.

I'd say he's working as reviewers should be. Describing what you get with minimal BS.

What exactly are you asking? Because it seems like you have an opinion that you're not sharing and desperately want validated. Anybody with a large enough fanbase is inherently polarizing: you will have people that like and don't like them because more people who all hold different opinions and values will have heard of them.

Poll seems pointless, especially considering it's the 4th or 5th thread either bitching about him or sucking his dick.

I voted for the first option. I like him a lot, like someone else said, people should appreciate reviewers (even though he does not do reviews) like him. So what if he's a bit of a dick sometimes, he's usually right. He doesn't have to be nice to do his job well. Personally I think he's a perfectly nice guy, who created the "TotalBiscuit" persona to channel his criticism, much like Jim Sterling's "Thank God for me" and Ben Croshaws "Yahtzee" personas.

This might sound sill or petty, but I don't like the way he talks. I'm sure his videos are very informative and well made and might even contain things I would be interested in hearing, but I just can't get past that. That's also the main reason I never got into Dexter so it's not exclusive to Totalbiscuit, but it's not common.

At first I was alright with him but he's kind of an asshole and has a bit of a holier than thou attitude. Didn't quite pick up on it at first because of his suave accent. As far as British internet based gaming commentary personalities go, I still prefer Yahtzee.

His 'WTF...' videos are a bore fest. He often makes the most entertaining games seem boring, with his commentary.

It dumbfounds me he has more subscriptions than the highly entertaining Classic Game Room.

OH, WAIT - I just read the OP's article. Turns out he was a financial adviser in Great Britain? That explains A LOT as to why he isn't a very charismatic person. I used to deal with those shmucks every day in my old job.

Yeah, I'd say the thing that kind of puts me off to him is his sense of self-importance. Jim Sterling does it as part of a character. As far as I can tell Biscuit's not acting in his videos.
Well, he's certainly putting on the voice, so I don't see why he wouldn't be putting on much of the persona too.

EDIT: Also, the whole "CynicalBrit" thing. For one, ugh using nationality as an advertising point, fuck that.
And for being so "cynical" he's really not. Not in most of the videos I watch. ComplainingBrit maybe. OccasionallySomewhatAggrevatedBrit would work too.
I kinda assumed that was just a reference to the way we Brits often compare ourselves to the yanks. I know a lot of people who say things like "maybe it's just because I'm a cynical Brit". Americans always seem far more enthusiastic about things than we are.

But no, he's not especially cynical for a Brit.
