You know what? You're right, I don't know the character better than Blizzard. Especially since they can change her personality at the drop of a hat if they wanted too.

However I can say that based on the personality we know about her from what we have been shown of her in-game and in cinematics. Tracers "over the shoulder" pose DOES fit her personality. Again, from what we know of her character right now...it fits.

They can change whatever they want, under whatever excuse they want. And they did. So that is really the end of it right?

However I will insist to the end that the excuse of some personality quirk wouldn't have Tracer striking that pose is utter nonsense.

Far be it from me to suggest that Blizzard should have done this from the beginning: put it to a vote. You're supposed to be getting fan feedback, not looking for a voice or two to justify decisions you wanted to make in the first place.

Myself, I'm not attached to the thing, but as someone tired of this always coming to controversy as much as anyone, I get that people aren't going to quietly sit back and let things they like be chipped away bit by bit for the few going "I'm offended" so in the name of peace, maybe those that [claim they] don't care should let the pervs have one and vilify the idea that a few "I'm offended" should overwrite a thousand "I love it"s.

I am sitting firmly in the "don't give a shit" camp. The controversy surrounding it is manufactured and pointless. Par the course these days, I'm afraid.
It's also really funny how the people who are "for" this "controversy" are actually doing the exact opposite of what they think they are doing. "CENSORSHIP!" they claim, while literally wanting to censor the other side. "FREEDOM OF DEVELOPER EXPRESSION!" they cry while berating Blizzard for exercising said freedom. "WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE POSE!" they would repeat over and over again like a mantra while pretty much manufacturing this "controversy" over it by expending far too much time and energy on it.

It's almost like "pot calling the kettle black" situation...only the pot just imagined a kettle being there in the first place. I don't know if there is an accurate saying for this in any language.

I think the reason that it is gone is stupid, but as someone who did not like the way the pose looked anyway, it means that they will have to replace it with a better pose, so that is cool.

I just don't like their reasoning. The whole basis of "It doesn't fit her personality" is bullshit, because it does.
At that point, you might as well say you know their character better than they do. Because they disagree. It's their character and their game. You don't have to like their justification, but you can't reasonably say they're wrong.
If they aren't wrong, then they are doing a phenomenally bad job of showing us her personality. The "Alive" trailer makes her seem like the cocky type that taunts opponents, so why wouldn't she use that pose?

Nah, if you were bothering me, I'd just tell you to leave by the back door. But, that is an issue I've passed without much issue. And....um....butts....yeah I'm out of witty anal puns, at least not without way more mental effort than this should require. xD I'm straining to come up with any others that would work.
The important thing is you tried.

Well, I mean, you can protest all you want. You can not buy the game if it's meaningful to you. However, it's still their call. They can decide to ignore people who say that this is relevant to her character and so far, that's the way things are going.

I don't much care about it, but let's be fair about this the real reason they removed it is because it's a place-holder pose that several characters have and they were already planning to replace it at some point down the line, people forget that it's a beta and it makes sense that stuff like that would be subject to change until much later than in-game animations or balance.

I mean it's not like Blizz is against sexualizing the character otherwise she wouldn't have that skin-tight suit and Widowmaker still exists, so it's a non-issue, it's a typical change for a beta and nothing more.
Then all they had to do was say so.

You know, instead of making a big deal about her fantastic fanny.
Maybe I'm missing something because I haven't paid much attention mostly because the whole outrage is about removing a pose and it's call buttgate, which is kind off massively stupid, but from what I've seen Blizzard's response was simply the employee that is in charge of that saying, "Yes person that is complaining about the pose, I understand what you are saying and I agree, in fact we were planning on removing it regardless since the animation we actually wanted is almost finished", then some people got a bit more passionate and they apologized for having offended people because they are a corporation and that's what corporations do when they don't want to seem like dicks and then suddenly everybody was really pissed over it.

To be honest I'm not sure I understand which part of the issue was misshandled by Blizzard, to me it just seems like the audience is being stupid, but like I said I don't give a shit of whether they remove a pose or not, it's ridiculous to me that people are complaining about a victory pose, literally the most irrelevant part of any competitive game, I never even look at them past the first time, besides why would I look at it when looking up your stats at the end of the match is much more interesting.

Seriously though why do people care about a victory pose? This is ridiculous.

I neither support nor don't support it. I don't support the way they handled it, however. All in all, it probably would have been better if they hadn't removed it. Or at most unwedgied her suit.
I don't care about the pose itself, but I can't help but feel like this was all a stunt, kind of like with Hatred or Dead or Alive. Start a controversy, and then watch people snap up your game or swimsuit DLC. It's a good excuse to drum up extra good will from the recent outrage culture. Everything just feels... off to me.

Anti-removal here. I am sick of over sensitivity and making a big deal out of nothing.
Those two lines seem rather contradictory.

A big deal was not made until they said they were going to remove it. This should have been nothing.

Given the new pose I wish I could have changed my answer as it's actually really quite good. Unless they were doing it for publicity I still don't see a reason to remove the original though as it's simply one less thing in game.

Never before has something that mattered so little received so much attention. In fact the only reason this is an issue is because now thanks to the internet, a games development details no matter how small get plastered all over the internet as if they're huge news. If blizzard had not commented and just replaced it with that pose, no one would have said anything I'd be willing to bet. It's not as though it was a particularly stand out pose.

The censorship debate is stupid. But I do see why people are nervous. In general progressives can't enter a single stroke on a keyboard without dehumanizing someone that disagrees with them and the internet is the internet so anyone who disagrees with them and subsequently feels dehumanized will retaliate with guns blazing.

I don't care the pose was removed, and I think the new pose is better.

What I think they bungled was their entire handling of the situation. If they just changed the old pose to the new one without responding to that user in the forums and making it look like they were doing it just to appease one person this never would have made the headlines.

I approve of the removal, simply due to the fact that the new one looks more eroticly then the previous one. So it's a win in my book.

Can we please have a 5th poll option:

> Blizzard's response to the original complaint was fucking retarded

Because that's what sparked the shitstorm to begin with. The controversy had almost NOTHING to do with Tracer's actual pose, so I don't know why people are still harping on about it. It was everything to do with Jeff's response.

I just heard about this recently, and from what I can gather, Blizzard didn't care for it either, so there is nothing that really matters here.

If I ever see a developer say they're getting harassed enough to break down and conform, then I will have a problem with it.

I don't care about the pose. Where's the option for "this whole thing is causing me to lose my faith in humanity"?

There's the biggest global corruption scandal ever going on right now and gamers are losing their minds over butts. Fucking butts. I know I know, gaming site and such. I just feel that the amount people are getting worked up over such a meaningless thing is a tad depressing. The fact that this topic has been dominating the popular forum posts section for this long is ridiculous.

Blizzard directly lied in their statement on the subject. They said they agree with pose criticism, then they make a pose which is A PIN-UP POSE, i.e., borderlines erotical, and SUDDENLY no backlash from original critics? Weee-hooo, that was a clunky PR over there.

It's fourth one.

Pffff, how naive one has to be to even... I don't know, this offshore scandal is just funny. "Oooh my gaaawd, politicians are corrupted in our world ruled by business interests and financial lobbies, what a surpriiiise!"

Yeah, but they wrote a reply later though with how they feel. I'm not going to make assumptions on what their real intentions are.
