Weird. I usually find its totally acceptable for girls to dress boyishly and not the reverse. Probably because some subconscious social reflex still tells people anything feminine = weak and hence emasculating or something ripe for parody whereas things that are more masculine are seen as secure, confident, in the case of clothing, practical. It all boils down to socialization and association, really. Like, think about the phrase, "He/She wears the pants in this family," and ask yourself what that tells you about ingrained views on this?

Honestly, though, some of the toughest dudes I know have dressed in women's clothing.

Anyway, enough of this chatter, I'm off to watch the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race!

I don't give a flying shit. I wear what I like, and if someone is wearing somethin silly, I'll tell them. Depending on their handling of my opinion, I tell them carefully or in tears, laughing.

It is pretty fucking obviously okay for girls to dress in men's clothes. It's been happening for years, and nobody but the obscenely shallow ever give even the most shamefully speedy of fucks.

The reverse, however, is an entirely different goddamn story. Kind of a load of bullshit that it is a-okay for girls to dress in masculine clothes, but if a guy wears like a skirt or some tiny women's pants FUCK LOOK AT HIM HE'S DEVIANT SCUM.
I can't say I've ever felt the overwhelming desire to throw on a dress and feel pretty, but it always struck me as a ridiculous double standard.

People should be allowed to wear whatever the fuck they want. If they want to feel comfortable, they should be allowed to dress comfortably. If they want to look smart, they should be allowed to dress sharply. If they want to feel the breeze whipping through their undercarriage, then hey, who are we to judge so long as they aren't exposing themselves.

The Utilikilt. Durable, open air, containing pockets. Too bad they're so expensive I won't ever get a pair.

Woot? Sure it might not be some sort of big brand but I've seen "toolbelt kilts" for around 400kr. That would be $60 for a pair. Those were made by Blåkläder so it's not some crap brand or anything.

Right, sorry for being off topic.

I would like to add this though. If a woman would wear men's "dressed up" clothes like a suit and tie that would most certainly turn some heads. They are designed for men while jeans and t-shirts are unisex.

Go ahead. I find there is something bizarrely sexy about females in mens clothing.

Don't care.

However, woman generally have a smaller build than guys, which makes it easy for us to wear their clothes, but hard for them to wear ours. Usually I'd say broad shoulders are a problem for guys wearing girls clothes.
I still don't care however - I think guys clothes are totally cozy, mom's given me some of the shirts that are to small for my little brother(he's my heights and five years younger D:).

It's a big misconception that men who dress in women's clothes are freaks, there are plenty of guys who wear women clothes who are still completely respectable, just look at Eddie Izzard.

If it looks good and feels good, wear it.

I don't even think anybody would jump to the conclusion that you're a lesbian for wearing a man's shirt anyway. That's usually characterized (where I live) by a man's haircut and a chest that's duct taped flat. And an aura that says "I hate men, and if you hold that door open for me I will stab you."

Yes, people should be able to wear whatever they want.

I probably wouldn't think a guy in a ballet skirt looked fashionable, but I can see absolutely nothing wrong with doing it, and wouldn't hesitate to do it myself should I ever feel an inclination towards it.

I don't have any problem with it... I see enough transvestites about, especially at any kind of goth club night haha they seem drawn to it. The only time I can say it wasn't alright was when a certain transvestite was walking up some stairs directly in front of me and a mate whilst wearing a short skirt type effort... The drunken fella didn't seem to realize one of his bollocks was hanging out of the side and was in clear view... This was most disturbing but was also incredibly hilarious at the same time :D

EDIT: In the case of women wearing men's clothes, I find it is hardly noticeable really. A girl in jeans and a t-shirt seems like an incredibly normal thing to me and far less obscure than a guy in a dress. Wear whatever the hell you want and if somebody tells you you're wrong for it, tell em to fuck off!

I think it may be worth mentioning that I find a girl wearing jeans and a hoodie infinitely more attractive than one in a formal dress. It might have something to do with that being what I almost always wear.
Agreed, especially when it's MY jeans and/or hoodie.

Thing is most "guys" clothes are unisex. Guts wear trousers, so do girls. But kirts are womens clothes. Women can get away with it because trousers arent limited to one ender. Skirts on the other hand just are, dont know why, dont care, but they are.
A hundred years ago, you'd have been laughed out of the room for saying that men's clothes are unisex.

Just goes to show, really.
A hundred and fifty-ish years ago dresses were worn by both young girls and boys. When a boy reached a certain age (10-12 I think) they got given breeches (trousers). Before they were breeched, they were called girls.

Both young boys and girls were called girls, the former becoming boys only on reaching trouserhood (awesome word, btw). Both were dolled up and everything

Dresses use to be unisex, Who's to say they won't be again!?

I know my friend when getting nerdy tops she just gets a medium men's because she knows it fits her and it's easier to get. You can't tell the difference.

So I guess you can't always spot if a woman is wearing guy clothes.
