I don't know. I got my GED when I was a sophmore.

Give a little more reason why you ask.
What is a GED?
Its a test you can take early in high school that lets you, basically, graduate early.
No offense, but that's rather stupid.

For a Sophmore that is.

Do you get to retake it the following year if you fail? o_O

Also, the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU!!!!! would be my reaction as well ;3
Why is it stupid? I took it, aced it, and got to go to college this fall instead of that airless hell hole they call a school.
But...but...

I think our High Schools are very different here. You'd have to know stuff in grade 12. Stuff that you couldn't begin to comprehend without the knowledge ahead of the time.
By here do you mean the United States? I ask because everyone in my school coasted their senior year. Even the AP classes were fluff, and on the whole, I'd say senior year only made me lazier as a student.

If given the choice, I'd probably elect to graduate early with the work ethic I had in Junior year and go straight to college instead of sitting in the educational equivalent of a holding cell for two semesters.

I actually like my school tbh.

What with the great idiot divider (well mostly) the lovely "Applied" and "Academic" courses.

If you're in Applied the school assumes you are a retard and expects you'll be a dick.

Where as Academic, they expect a small amount of Dickery, and that you will mostly be intelligent.

It was for me. Everyone was hyping up 10th to be this uberhard year at my school (mainly because of a tough bio teacher) but it turned out to be my best year. 11th grade was a different story.

My high school was full of idiots, literally people who didn't want to learn. I got a 4.0 while half-assing it.
I have the same kind at my school. But to make up for it they let them take the shitty classes and still fail because they usually hire the whichever teacher will take the lowest pay, while people who take higher level classes get the better teachers (meaning they've been there for years and plan to stay for years).
at my school all of the Major idiots are integrated with the normal idiots and what happens is that they get a class where the teachers do their homework for them for an hour and a half, and during tests they go to another room where the teacher takes the test for them. They're smug about it too they're like "excuse me I need to leave, for I am special (not the retard kind of special either they think they're playing the system) and when they go like half the kids are like "that's so cool"
Oh, it WAS one of those lowest-bidder places. That's why things went the way they did. Transition to college was a bit difficult since the school had failed to teach certain things in the cirriculum.

I'm glad your educational system worked out for you. Your Applied and Academic system sounds a lot like the Regular, College Prep, and Advanced Prep distinctions we gave our classes. Of course, whereas your seems to have enriched your educational experience, the only real effect ours had was to put the smart kids in one room to half-ass their way through material they'd already covered while the kids who didn't test as well were in another room being spoon fed the answers by teachers who didn't care as much.

Well, I live in B.C., Canada (I see that you live in Canada, too.), and for me, a student's marks all matter for grades 10, 11, and 12.

Anyway, for me, I can't really remember how difficult grades 10 and 11 were, but 12 was actually fairly easy. Of course, it's all about what courses you choose to take.

For me, the only grades where you get to choose specific sciences are are in grades 11 and 12. In both, I just did Biology (which wasn't too bad in grade 11, but Biology 12 was fairly difficult).

Ugh, in my Chemistry class there is no "Half Assing" only full throttle, or ass is grass.

Mr. Okeefe works us like a MAD MAN.

The spoon feeding is true though, I swear to god, the grade 10 applied math has been doing y=mx+b for 2 months now. GRADE 10! The fuck ?!

In my school you can ask anyone: Sophomore. Mostly because Chemistry is a required course that most people take as a sophomore; it's stupid, pointless, worthless, and complicated. Most people that don't cheat on it are either failing, or barely passing - there are 3 A's in the entire class. And that fucker thinks he's doing a good job teaching.
Does he do a bad job at teaching? Or do the students do a bad job at studenting (yes, that is a word; someone said it, therefore it is now a word)? Had that issue at my school; people say that the teacher "didn't teach them anything", which is weird because I never read the books and I still somehow learned things during class.

A little update: I am in 11th grade right now. So far it has been my toughest year. Got my first "C" on a report card. And my Pre-cal grades have fallen from 100's to about 90. Shit Sucks.

For you maybe, I loved chemistry.

OT: Depends on what you take. Some people slack off and take all gym/art classes senior year, but then there are the semi smart people (like me), that take classes where you have to think. My 3rd quarter during senior year I had AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, and Spanish V.

I beg to differ.

I was there for a full fucking year and not a single person was different. They were all the same jock asshole rednecks who need to all drop dead.

Okay, I get you there. If a class can't memorize and apply a six character formula in a few weeks... Well, I just don't know.

No, he does a bad job at Teaching. I don't consider myself to be a genius, but I'm a pretty smart guy. I get mostly A's and B's. So do much of the other people in my class. Sure there are those who aren't willing to learn, but the problem remains that he is the worst public speaker I've ever heard. Every other word - "Um, um um" and he stutters everything. He starts new concepts immediately after teaching old ones, and if you can't understand it, you're fucked.

For me it was. I'm a senior now and it's much easier. No one takes the teachers seriously and I get less work than I did last year.
