Yeah, I tend to focus on the guitarwork and the vocals. Sometimes I notice the drums, and if the bass is impressive, then I'll note that, but usually its the vocals and guitar.

I listen to the music, its hard to explain, but I can listen to all the parts at once as if they are on different layers and pay attention to them all.

I play piano and a bit of guitar and bass and do a lot of music in general so if the music is interesting I'll listen to different parts or the song as a whole, depending on the song and how I'm feeling

I focus on the overall sound of the music, but give a priority to the vocals so as to not miss the words. When I first began playing guitar it helped me to differentiate between the instruments being used, and focus on only one of them if I so desired.

All of them.

I like to listen to songs repeatedly and focus on a different part each time.. although if I'm not focusing I tend to naturally tune into the guitar and vocals. Or piano/keyboard when applicable.

Since I've started drumming, I've noticed that my ears are focused mainly on the drum track of any song, with a few exceptions. But when I started playing bass, I still couldn't differentiate the bassline from the rest of the song.

So, I'm wondering, what does everyone else out there focus on while listening to music, if anything?
Listen to some bass heavy song, like a band called Spineshank or The Who... they had a lead bassist. :D
