Hate to say it Doc, but it's just going to be a showing of how many of us are playing each game - not that that's a bad thing. ;)

That's ok. Some of them play both or all three. I'm highly dissapointed on the DDO turnout, though.

Yep lotro is for me the best mmo, just alot more enjoyable than wow + its Lord of the Rings! who doesn't want to play in Middle-Earth after reading the books or seeing the films?!
Itried it. It wasn't as enjoyable as DDO is. It felt empty in the lower levels. And the Fex Ex questing and kill 10 yetis reminded me of WoW, which I had played just before. Granted it had ALOT less of thosetype of quests than WoW.

But I love the DDO combat system. I also love the social aspect of the game. Not sure about LotRO social aspects, I didn't get much past the newbie area. I think WoW coloured my choice of not picking the game up again. There is alot of similairties between the two, though LotRO is FAR superior to WoW.

Maybe if I played LotRO before WoW...

I dunno, I should try again. Nextime they have a welcome back weekend, I'll try.

It isn't a well known fact, but Warforged are just Gnome battlesuits. ;o)

You should have added a "haven't played any of them option". Although I'm a Lotro player i guess some people here at the Escapist haven't played any Turbine game.

Either way all of Turbines communities are very vivid and welcoming.

Although i don't play DDO, i visit their forums regularly.

Hmmm... this is interesting. I wonder if this will get even 1/10th of the votes that the march mayhem thread did. I mean presumably turbine players were all told to come here and vote, and they touted how they now want to be part of the community.

But without the company thats keeping them entertained telling them to jump, will they still say their proverbial 'how high'? I for one doubt it, and don't even know why I'm making such ridiculous and unrelated statements.

I've only played DDO, when it was in some kind of 'beta' (I played it early and for free) and it didn't hook me in any real way. This of course coming from an mmo player, just so you know I'm not someone who was like 'WHAT THIS ISNT AN FPSESES?! I NEEDZ COUNTERSTIKEZ' or something, I genuinely gave it a chance.

It has been much improved since Beta. SO much improved. THey fixed their mistakes and most of the players are adults with degrees and jobs. I would recommend giving another whirl when you have a chance.

I'm not sure if that would happen though, for a number of reasons but prime among them being the fact that I am currently backlogged with games... like... I have about 4 or 5 games I wish to get to, and also I find myself too busy lately to even get them. Maybe when April hits I can get through that backlog and perhaps sink my teeth into an mmo, but I don't like playing them unless I can devote at least a couple hours per day tbh

Does DDO have a free trial or some such?

yes it does. But if you can find the orginial disk thatcan save you the hassle. we are going to get our 9th moduale and level 20 cap soon (I hope!) THe totally reworked the newbie area so it is more friendly and relates to the storylines later in thegame. Started to add snow to some settings. We have 8+ raids. They added PrEs to the Enhancement line. THey fixed the enhancement line so there is more than four you can choose from. Reworking Feats are in the game, as well as dragonmarks. Monks are in as well as drow, but Druids still not alnog with half-elfs and half-orcs (it is slated to go in)

If you do decide to try, send me PM here, and head to Thelanis. I'll help out as much as I can.

LoTRO for me, haven't tried DDO but it looks interesting. I was never into mmo's until LoTRO, I did try WoW but it wasn't for me.

Asheron's Call was my first MMO, haven't played anything that lives up to the skill system yet. Played LotRO in beta.. wasn't impressed. Played WoW for a while .. grew bored. Played GuildWars, the extreme use of instances turned me off, the game felt too sterile.

I have been debating on whether to try LotRO again since I just upgraded my computer, but I'm afraid I've grown too jaded to get into another MMORPG :/

/vote Asheron's Call - my favorite MMO of all time

Edit: FYI: been lurking, watching Zero Punctuation, for about a year.. registered to vote for Turbine, I currently do not play any MMOs

I am sooooooooooo stuck on DDO lol.

I shud prolly give LOTRO and AC a try sometime tho :)

Edit:

I shud say that DDO is my 2nd MMO that I played....over 2 years now lol.

My first MMO was Shdowbane by UBISoft. Played that for about 3 years, before I got utterly discouraged by all the expoiters in the game. To tell the truth...I've been debating trying it out again lol.

Can I vote DDO 30 times for AtD? :) The guild doesn't get out much to post on any forums. Sometimes it's like pulling teeth just to get them onto our guild website. They'd rather be in game. :)

Can we get Tolero to put this up in the forums. Or maybe the DDO dev's can get it on the launcher. We need to rally the troops.

Sorry... these last days of battle are getting to me.

DDO is the infinitely better game. Middle Earth is cool and all, but it's been done to death, resurrected, then done to death again (much like Forgotten Realms), and another EQ/WoW in a new skin just doesn't excite me.

DDO is the only MMO I've played, I seem to have avoided the crack addiction that is WoW, but I've got a copy of Mines of Moria I picked up at Circuit City before the doors closed, and it's sitting here waiting for me in case DDO looses it's luster. I'm interested to see how it plays!
