I let it fly that the twilight kids introduced that segment because I knew they weren't nominated for shit(as they rightly should not have been) and at least deserved some recognition for single-handedly creating the largest fan-base of pedo-bait since the Hansen Brothers.

So it was with a rather loud "What the fuck?!" I exclaimed when I saw twilight appear in the montage of horror movies. I'm sorry to tell the academy but twilight is not horror, its only horrifying in the same way waking up to a steaming pile of shit on your chest is horrifying.

I never thought friday the 13th should be considered horror, nor should silence of the lambs. Slasher films are not horror (to me) and watching a long form episode of what is now typically considered a crime thriller doesn't strike me as part of the horror genre either. But I am renowned amongst my friends as being overly picky about my choice of horror (Lovecraft or bust!).

Yea....this is why I've lost my faith in humanity....
How....is it even possible.......to even consider how such a horriable movie such as Twilight...is even ANY, on ANY ANY ANY ANY level as the epic and classic movies such as Jaws, Silence of the Lambs, Friday the 13th, and even The Exorsist.
Well, I know probably atlaest a quorter of the profits for the two Twilights is probably from people going from bets trying to see how long they last. Anyway,

You heard me, "Twilight" was honored in a horror movie montage that included such films as "Jaws", "Silence of the Lambs", "Friday the Thirteenth", "The Shining", "The Exorcist", and "Rosemary's Baby" among others.

As another personal slap in the face of horror movie fans, the tribute to horror films was actually presented on stage by the two stars of the second Twilight film.

Your thoughts?
Well it clearly horrified you enough to make this thread, right?
Not the film, but the ooze in the brains of the film maker that made the montage.
I don't see what the big deal is. It's just a movie. Some people like it, some don't. So what? Most horror movies are frankly crap anyway, there's only a tiny handful of genuinely good ones.
It's not about whether people liked it it's about whether it's horror or not. And it's not in any shape or form, sparkly or otherwise.
Given the way that people are reacting to it in this thread, I would dispute that claim. Twilight could in fact be one of the most effective horror films of all time. It's able to even scare people who haven't seen the bloody thing.

There's a difference between horror and startling. Which is why most horror movies aren't really horror.

Ahahahaha, it's a crappy romance flick that happens to have monsters previously featured in a couple of horror movies. Didn't bug me that much though, at least they honored the good ones (and Leprechaun...).

So the definition has broadened to encompass other things. If you're a horror fan you should be pleased. Twilight may be a stepping stone to other things for some people. BY montaging Twilight with all those other films, people who've only seen Twilight might go "hmmm, maybe I'd like some of those other films too". People really need to think outside the square where Twilight is concerned. Horror fans everywhere could be capitalising on it massively instead of whining.

The acting was horrid. The screenplay and directing was horrid. The dialogue was horrid. Everything about it was horrid. And yes, I saw New Moon, so these are my educated opinions. Just because everything is horrid doesn't classify the movie as "Horror."

But if Twilight fans watch other horror movies with vampires, they're just going to say the other vampires aren't how vampires should be.

Besides, I was given the impression that Twilight was a romance movie/book. I think romance is about as far off from horror as you can get.

There IS no strict definition of how a vampire should be, after all it's a fantasy creature. People have been rewriting and modifying the "vampire" formula in drastic ways ever since it existed.

Also I think romance and horror are so intrinsically linked that they cannot be separated.

But I do wonder where all the knee jerk reactions to twilight came from? I've read all four books and I am a straight (still) almost thirty year old male. True, they were not the best books I have ever read, but not the worst by far. I would rather see vampires used creatively and out of context than to have to sit through another Dracula knock-off, or an Anne Rice overly sexualized pesudo-porn vamp novel. While I do not agree with the above that we should embrace Twilight as a member into the horror genre, we should be glad that such tropes are being turned on their head. And hey, worse comes to worse, all the girls into vampires now become the slutty goth chicks in just a few short years.

Semi-fair point, but I believe there's a point where if you continue modifying it, it ceases to be what it originally was. At which point it should have a different name. Besides, the name isn't a monster, a monster is given a name. We take an idea and name it, not apply an idea to a name. So I believe that Twilight vampires are not vampires, but something else entirely.

And how do you get horror~romance?

I told you all the Oscars were bullshit, but did you listen? Noooooooooo!

As for Twilight, I haven't seen or read it, except for a few trailers; but it sure as hell didn't strike me as a horror film. More like an episode of 90210 with, what was supposed to be a vampire, but didn't quite pull it off.
my god, we should have listened sooner...
