Does anyone by the way know who the "Hollywood talent agent" interviewed was? I tried searching but failed miserably.
Considering he's not even named in the NYMAG [http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/11/assassins_creed_movie_sony_ubi.html] article I'm going to assume he chose to stay Anonymous.

I was afraid of that... And that's too bad as I really wanted to see what that particular agent has been involved in. Only take the piss if even one movie I thought was bad was one of theirs, naturally :)

Ubisoft, both the studios and the publishers, have reliably brought me a number of quality games (despite annoying DRM). Hollywood has brought me a bunch of shitty game adaptations, showing repeatedly that they don't have any respect for the genre. And Hollywood production company interference has ruined a lot more than just video game films. I'll side with the people who created (and probably care for) Assassin's Creed.

I dunno, I love PoP, well, the entire thing but the opening sequence. Where he breaks into the castle, it tries too hard to be like the game. The rest of the film was spot on though :)

One small but very important detail is that Ubisoft are financing it, which is also unusual.

Why should anyone other than Ubisoft have control? Whoever pays the piper calls the tune I say.

If you are going to make a movie based off someone else's work, they should have full control over what the movie turns out like. PoP was horrid for most who played the game (Except the hot chick in it), and I am pretty sure no-one wants an Assassin's Creed movie that turns out the same way. I just think Hollywood is upset it won't get to shit over another title.
Wait , waw i the only one that liked the Pop movie? Or maybe i was the only one going into the movie NOT expecting it to be true to the game. I saw a couple of teenagers come out of that movie and say " this wasn't like the game at all " and then i though to myself " stupid teenagers , expecting the movie to be like the game, lol". Plus it was made by disney.

OT: Whoo montreal ! My hometown ! Suck it sony!

OT: yeah this sounds like a good idea , if they make it good we might see better movies based on video games.

Handing over the franchise to some dedicated film studio is garanteed to make a game movie adaptation fail.
If an AC movie must be made, there's no further risk in trying a different approach.

Of course they should, Hollywood has a piss poor track record with game to movie adaptations, and in every instance, it is because the makers of the games get left out in the cold, and don't have a say in the matter.

Yeah they should, Hollywood has a shitty record of making movie versions of games, so I really don't see how Ubisoft could any worse. Besides, I thought they did a great job with AC: Lineage, so they might be able to pull it off.

Hollywood can go pound sand for all I care.

May as well let the people who have created the series have a fair shot at making the movie. It's not like Hollywood has proven itself at making consistently good video game movies.
