I watched it now.
I've found family guy to be pretty ok, decent television as far as television goes. The storylines aren't much to look at, and it does take a big ol' pile of "influence" from traditional family sitcoms (Yes, The Simpsons too), but I find the comedy gives me a few laughs, just because of its sheer idiocy. And when it comes to a cartoon like FG, Simpsons, Futurama or South Park, I'm not in it for the story, I'm in it for the laughs. If I laugh, good, if I don't, bad.

But that episode was just crap. A dog eating a baby's poo? I'm from the internet, so I'm not offended, but I'm not amused either. There's nothing funny about it, it's just dumb and boring. The whole episode is spent in the same locker, where I assume some sort of heavy dialog and strong emotions were supposed to take place. Watching it, however, was like watching some old Monty Python sketch, except this time there were no "police" to come and stop the silly and ludicrous joke with no punchline.

The whole thing, for me, was finally ruined when the door opens, and Brian just walks out, carrying Stewie, without saying a word and nothing happening. It sort of gave me the impression that the writer was trying to make the cartoon comedy equivalent of a contemporary and unorthodox movie, like 12 Angry Men or Rear Window. A noble task in which he horribly failed.

The musical pieces have always been FG's worst part, by a large margin. I watched the first one, and gave up.

All in all, I just found it a waste of time.

I agree it seen that the better American Dad gets the worse Family Guy gets...hell I think the Clevland Show is better than Family Guy right now.

I watched it for about...10 minutes, then my sister and I said "Fuck this". The episode sucked. Horribly.

Sounds like influence from 2 girls 1 cup.

Comedy Central needs to stop endorsing offensive humor.

It's got a lot of the same people working on it (American Dad). But if you examine the shows side-by-side you find most of the (actually funny) humor in American Dad is both extremely relevant to the episode's subject matter and usually arises as a result of a character's personality traits. Like, for example, Roger is an alcoholic, inconsiderate, obnoxious and stupid alien with a penchant for horrible disguises that somehow always work perfectly. It's funny how almost none of the humor arising from his antics has to do in any way with the fact he's an alien.

Now that's how you develop a character.

Pretty much this, add a few minutes and subtract the sister. I was actually confused when I saw a promo saying it had no cutaways or random references (paraphrased, but still), considering that's kinda the source of Family Guy's humor.

Ok, so I was a big fan of the first three seasons of Family Guy. After that, they just started getting disgusting. It seems like the last two or three seasons they cant go an episode without a rape or incest joke, and totally unnecessarily. For example, they did an Aquaman joke about how useless he is, where a woman is getting raped and Aquaman is just yelling at the rapist. This made me very angry, because they could have done the EXACT SAME joke, but had him mugging her, stealing her shit, or something. It being rape just wasnt crucial to the joke at ALL. I lost all respect for Family Guy at that moment.

Amen.

I use to love Family Guy, but I got sick of the constant political messages. I'm no a member of the Tea Party, but it got REALLY old after a while. The nail got hammered into the coffin the second they turned Evil Genius Stewie into Gay Stewie. Fail.

I didn't read about 98% of the posts on here, just because... well, I'm betting most of you didn't read all the posts either before putting in your 2 cents.

However, imho, I didn't particularly like the latest episode of Family Guy, but it wasn't because I just decided it was shitty and therefore "the worst thing ever," like other people are calling it... but people aren't realizing something.

Too many people are calling the episode "unfunny," and while this may be true considering the serious lack of "jokes" aka "flashbacks" aka "What Family Guy Does Best" and supporting characters, it's not like the episode was unfunny on accident. I think, actually, that it's clearly obvious that Seth Macfarlane and his group of manatees (South Park reference, you're welcome) decided to go down a different path.. has anyone here ever heard of the genre known as "drama"? If not, kill yourself.

All others, the show was trying to give a much more mature, deep feeling to the otherwise 2-dimensional characters and unfocused plots we usually see. Then again, it was awkward to have the now infamous gross plotline in this episode combined with the much more serious overtone played up in the 2nd half, but I actually enjoyed the 2nd half.. the half with much less comedy.

I can see why someone would be disappointed, though. When you see "Family Guy," you immediately think tasteless, offensive, but culturally relevant humor that most people can't pass up. If anything, Brian and Stewie's exclusive episodes have their own cult following because of they're over-the-top humor. So yes, this is definitely different and maybe even unfitting, but I wouldn't knock the show for just trying something different. Of course, this past season hasn't been the best overall, but putting that aside, this latest 150th episode is just trying a new trick. Whether or not you liked it is, obviously, up to you... but it's a shame to see people hate it JUST because it didn't have any flashbacks or Meg jokes... how I love those Meg jokes though..

I lost my respect for Family guy when Stewie (Dressed as a woman) seduced Brian. It was also the episode Louis decided to change her personality of a morally good, loyal wife into a woman who decided to have sex with her Daughters Boy Friend. This would have probably made my relationship with Family Guy worse, thanks for the heads up about how this would've sucked.

Comedy Central has nothing to do with Family Guy. Fox and Cartoon Network on the other hand...

I thought the episode was just boring. I'd prefer subtle moments of character development over the course of a season or whatnot as opposed to a special episode, which in the grand scheme of things will likely just be ignored once the regular episodes resume.

I was a fan back in the first couple seasons, but then I was in high school at the time (holy crap how time flies, can't believe the show is so old.)
The last episode I caught on television as a "hey, I wonder where this show has gone" sort of curiosity, involved a (pointless) flashback with Mother Teresa having an overdose in the back of a car, with Stewie freaking out, and then booting her out onto the curb in front of a hospital or something.

Now, I'm not a religious guy, nor am I easily offended, but that "joke" was in such poor taste, and was obviously manufactured for nothing but shock value that I was instantly turned off the show.
By the sound of your description OP, things haven't improved.

Whatever though, Seth MacFarlane is a millionaire, so I guess, sadly, he is doing something right. The dude knows what sells, and what grabs the attention of his target audience.
