Is this statement TRUE or FALSE: in the 1980s, the largest immigrant groups were from the West Indies, Ireland, India and Pakistan?
Why the Hell does this even matter?

How many parliamentary constituencies are there?
Not really relevant, and it isn't exactly crucial to citizenship that everyone knows the exact number of parliamentary seats. The number often changes from election to election.

Why were recruitment centres set up in the West Indies in the 1950s?
Pointless trivia, nothing more.

The percentage of people in the UK in 2001 who said they were Muslims was
More number crunching.

Tests like this should focus on testing immigrants' awareness of national laws and traditions, not useless statistics and random facts.

You scored 6 out of a possible 24.

Some of these questions are total bull though.

5 is wrong and open to interpretation.
6 is wrong.
8 open and wrong.
11 - no-one cares.
12 is wrong
14 includes the right answers, and is wrong.
21 is wrong
24 is wrong

The rest tend to rely on verbatim regurgitation. Like Crop Rotation in the 14th Century.
Not arguing with you (most of this questions were utter gak-shit) but 21 is correct. The monarchy is prevented from marrying anyone who isn't a protestant (mainly to stop a catholic getting into power).

The halloween question seemed more logical but it shouldn't be so much a yes or no as a question of common sense and how to respond to social situations in acceptable manner.

If all the questions focused around general social responses to see what sort of person the taker is would work much better (e.g. hard working selfless people score higher than lazy arseholes)

Hmm, I am a Brittish native and I scored 7/24. Several of the questions are completely irrelevant to modern Britain, for example "20.When was the census first carried out in the United Kingdom?" Who cares is the appropriate answer.

Questions pertaining to the EU are irrelevant as a large proportion of the British public are against us being part of it and Questions about times before 1900 are pretty useless to anyone accept historians.

Why was there a question about the EU Britain isn't in the EU is it?
And some of the other questions were just a whaaa? or what relevance does this have.

Failed with 6/24 and I'm a UK resident.
All of those questions just consist of pointless bollocks that you don't need to know.
Why do you need to know when women had the right to divorce their husbands in the UK? Isn't that the whole point of Google and Wikipedia?

I passed, but fucking hell, that taxed me to the limit.

But then I didn't care, because the UK sucks at the moment.

Hmmm...I think this is one of those laws which is enforced until it's broken - but hey. I think the proper answer would be "Anyone that isn't 'acceptable' to the family".

I failed with 15/24.

None of this stuff is relevant to living in the UK and is almost entirely pointless. There was a driving question at one point, something that isn't at all necessary unless you drive. Even then you take a theory test where it would be tested.

1. And stereotypes

2. We pretty much always describe 100cm as a meter.

3. Chicken Tikka massala was invented in Scotland, by an indian, and is 99% similar to another indian dish.

4. Name a quality news paper, anywhere in the world.

5. Bacon sandwich is always served with lettuce and tomato's. Hence BLT. Tbh, Bacon, veg, and fruit in a sandwich, isn't bad.

6. We have an NHS, what do you expect?

7. We are a humble people when it comes to courtesy. Unless you're in Hammersmith.

8. Stiff upper lip <3

9. Brits have been laughing at sex since Albion became an island. Americans just use it in bad sitcoms.

10. And we had a big ass empire might I add.

Sorry :(

12/24, failed, and British.

Most of those questions seem entirely irrelevant. In fact, the idea of it is stupid; buy a study guide? They're just learning general knowledge, you may as well ask people to compete in a pub quiz.

I scored 7 /24, not very good, but then again I'm from Denmark and the danish released theirs a few years back, a study showed that around 75% of Danish people coulnd't even pass it.
