The test is bullshit but that's not the most annoying part. Getting permission to take the test is frankly ridiculous as is the cost, yeah how much would you say it cost to take it? The government thinks £50.00 is fair. Also if you go to take it and then THEY mess something up with your registration you are not alowed to take it...and you have to pay fifty quid again to re-book it. Ridiculous.

But what bullshit test. I didn't even know what some of those words meant and I'm a fairly intelligent 24yr old!

6/24 - English Born and raised...

Interesting to know that being aware of how many Muslims there are in the UK makes you worthy of living here.... what about Christians or Budists etc... I find it a little stupid. I have some questions you could use ....

a) Do you or are you willing to learn English?
b) Are you willing to work and pay taxes like everyone else?
c) Will you keep your views (no matter what they are) to yourself?

Job done.

Can you pass it? [http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/blog/quiz/2011/oct/11/uk-citizenship-test-quiz]

In case you didn't know, to gain citizenship in the UK you have to take a short test about British culture and history, the above link is adapted from a practice version. Do you think that it's too harsh? What would you change about it, if anything? Did you get the trick-or-treat question right?

Also post your scores. I failed with 15/24, even though I'm a citizen by birth :(

EDIT: Only 7% of the escapist has managed to pass, that's 18 out of 291 so far.

EDIT2: That's gone down to 6%, 768 have failed, only 48 have passed. UK citizens seem to be doing marginally better.
This test is sad and pathetic. It's more like trivia you find at a weekly bar competition than a passport exam. I've seen citizenship tests friends have taken for here in the U.S., that's a hard test. It doesn't ask the random ass speed limits, who the president can/cannot marry or what to do for f***ing halloween. I just lost a ton of respect for your country.
You may have lost respect for our country but think how us British feel... we don't have any respect left to loose and its our OWN country!

It's a shame that failing the citizenship test doesn't mean being immediately exiled to Australia or New Zealand; it's the only way i'd willingly take that test :3

That isnt completely true. you still have Doctor Who, and for that your country will always have a special place in my heart.
