Someone in the topic that I link in my OP points out that in a lot of the armor sets the women are officially wearing high heels...
The argument for skimpy armor is "Well it...ummm....it allows for better mobility in combat! Better freedom of motion to be more nimble."
Well that argument goes right out the window when you're charging at an ogre wearing 5" high heels. >.>

Precisely this. I'm a heterosexual female, so whenever I see a giant, blatantly displayed pair of breasts on the cover of a game, my gut reaction is "well, this game was obviously not even attempting to market itself to me." The next reaction is a "if they have to toss boobs around to attempt to sell their game, it's probably not that good." The box art of a given game has very little effect on me, other than to insult or not insult my intelligence... and insulting box art has never kept me from buying a game, nor has beautiful, non-insulting box art caused me to buy a game. I've honestly never understood how pushy advertising and hype actually manage to appeal to people.
Also, there are these littles thing called gameplay demonstrations...
The box art of a given game has very little effect on me, other than to insult or not insult my intelligence... and insulting box art has never kept me from buying a game, nor has beautiful, non-insulting box art caused me to buy a game. I've honestly never understood how pushy advertising and hype actually manage to appeal to people.

While boxart might grab my attention, I always lokk at the back of the package to read the description and look at soem of the other screenshots before I decide if I want to buy it or not. Having a near pronographic cover won't convince me to buy the game, especially since I have my own computer and access to real porn.
