Wow, it's going to have an A rating? That sounds like sexy violent good, baby. I hope it'll be a good game but it's too early to tell. I'd love to be an Alien or Predator and kill the humans.
Re-opening this thread ive got to say the new AVP looks amazing. Theyve stayed pretty true to what made AVP2 amazing and have added in some cool new things like the aliens holding down an enemy to face bite, predators jumping roof to roof, whilst keeping in the origional parts from AVP and adding to the graphics.Uszi said:In case you don't know:

The main question is, will the upcoming game live up to its masterpiece PC counterpart Alien vs Predator 2 [http://pc.ign.com/objects/015/015121.html]. Which to me channeled all of the things good about half-life, and made it more Badass by adding the Predator.
My worry is that the AVP franchise typically walks the ultra thin line between awesomeness and total suck, and the movies and that awful RTS [http://xbox.ign.com/objects/499/499547.html] are examples where it slipped off to one side. I love the franchise, and I would love to see a high quality remake of a dated but amazing game.
What are your guys' thoughts?
I'll be merciful and only kill one half of you for thinking the AvP movies were around before the games. Since I'm so generous, I'll let you choose which half.Flour said:It was never a good franchise.xmetatr0nx said:I can only hope its a good game, the franchise is in a bit of a downward spiral.
The games were nice if you liked the movies, but if you didn't know about them it was just an average shooter with annoying gameplay mechanic.(aliens on the walls/ceiling)
I'll wait for the PC port, and probably kill someone if they ruin the controls.
That's a bit of a concern for me... Pretty much a rip straight from the movies. I suppose it is good to cater to the new fan base that might be center purely on the movies and not on the previous games or books.Developed at Rebellion by the team responsible for the original 1999 PC classic, the all-new Aliens vs. Predator allows players to take the role of three infamous species: Colonial Marines, Predators and Aliens. The game features a unique three-way online multiplayer experience, allowing gamers to battle for survival and the right to be crowned the deadliest species in the galaxy. Each race will also have its own distinct action-packed single-player campaign mode, with a storyline that cleverly interweaves with the other two species' paths.
Set on planet BG-386; a human colonist mining group discovers an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret. Across the galaxy, a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs. Deep inside the ruined pyramid meanwhile, nature's deadliest species awakes from centuries of hibernation intent on finding new prey.
Ditto the Hell out of this. Typical Hollywood suit bullshit. The first was PG13. A PG13 Alien/Predator movie. "Let's make a kid-friendly horror movie." And the sequel had interspecies rape - of a pregnant woman. Tastefully done.madbird-valiant said:Franchise was crap to begin with. Two franchises that were over tried to reboot themselves by colliding. Meh.
The important question was which one and why did you think it was crap. If it was the RTS that came out most recently, then I understand.funguy2121 said:Although I must admit, I've only played one of the games (it was pure crap), and that was years ago.
No idea. I don't even remember the platform. I just remember that it had decent, if showy graphics, but was still not as fun as the old patch Aliens Doom.Uszi said:The important question was which one and why did you think it was crap. The Marine Campaign in Alien vs Predator 2 is still one of my favorite things ever produced by a video game designer anywhere. But I guess a fair amount of that love is fanboy based.
What did you play, the Jaguar 64 game?? The PC AVP games are supposed to be amazing, I remember playing it at my cousin's house and being pissed that my computer couldn't run it because I wanted it so bad. On the other hand, I bought a Jag 64 just to try that old piece of shit, lost it in my closet and never looked back.funguy2121 said:I must admit, I've only played one of the games (it was pure crap), and that was years ago.
Looks like ESRB is planning on giving it an M rating...Uszi said:
