It hasn't lived up to any of it's predecessors. Maybe the Gamecube, but then it's barely changed from that. Thrown on a utterly terrible online service and waggle-stick motion control.

Worse games, worse audience, worse everything.

SNES will never be topped.

It's beaten its last predessecor the gamecube which was a terrible console to me.

But n64 and snes and nes are better than every console this gen so no there.

In my opinion, the Wii isn't really a console, but more of a half-hearted attempt to make a $240 rip-off seem reasonable. Nintendo hasn't had a new decent IP in ages.

Also, since PC is always compared to consoles, technically it is better than ALL consoles, because of emulation (eventhough it is illegal).
Emulation is not illegal. Downloading copyrighted content for the emulator illegally is illegal but the emulation itself is not.

I am very glad I can play my GC games on the Wii. Even still, its not getting all that much use. I have heard some 3rd party games are going to get released so I hope that changes something :)

What is it, Hate on Wii Day? Christ there's a lot of these threads today. Sure, there's shovelware, but guess what: for every shovelware game you name that isn't ported to every system that's exclusive to the Wii--There are almost the exact same amount for the 360 and computer, and more than a cartful for the PS3. Go ahead, ask yourself: How many games on the others are really, Really, good, then go look up the total number of available games. Don't go to gamespot or IGN and look up ratings and tell yourself that those are "good games", ask yourself--How many were really worth the effort of making? The Wii matches them blow for blow.

At least there's still a few people around who aren't bash-happy.

Kudos to you guys:

The Wii has lived up to its predecessors because it still gives an entertaining experience that is accessible by anyone as well as having the games necessary to hold the more devoted players.

And before someone jumps down my throat, if you say "hardcore" or "casual" anywhere in your statement I will fucking flog you.

I like the Wii. It has given me something to play with my family, since most of them aren't really big on games, and I think it has its fair share of great titles. I don't know if it's as great as some of the other consoles Nintendo has released, but it's far from bad, in my opinion.
And you too I guess

Stop contradicting yourself. If you haven't spent enough time with Brawl to have a real opinion about it, don't say that you prefer Melee over it. That's what is technically called: Bullshit. Congratulations, you've gone and undone your entire post.

Alright, Let's get something straight. I fucking loved the gamecube and it was easily my favorite last gen console. This is why I detest the Wii. Compared to the Gamecube, it's horrid.

Smash Bros Brawl was fun for about 20 minutes, Twilight Princess was great but not as good as the other Zeldas and that was about it.

Your contradictions are annoying me. I love SSBB over SSBM. It's balance and glitch free. Melee had a lot of glitches that annoyed me.

Stop ragging on the Wii, people. Your arguments to say that the Wii is garbage are not only beginning to sound the same, but they're also wrong. The games are fun, the controller works great when used correctly (and it has been in quite a few titles), and the whole "Blargh! The casual market is going to destroy hardcore gaming!" thing is idiotic and boring to hear over and over and over again on these forums.

The forum is about whether the Wii lived up to the predecessors. If you (you being several of the most recent posters) feel you can't handle a "no" answer, back AWAY from such a discussion. And the fact that certain complaints keeps coming up repeatedly SHOULD be a good signal to you.

Don't get me wrong, I used to BE a Nintendo kid. From NES up to the Gamecube (where I felt things started going downhill). I WANTED the next incarnation to be great, but the controller.....ugh. I would put my favorite Nintendo console as the N64, despite its ackward-to-hold controller, as I loved a lot of its games. SNES a close second though.

One great thing (for me atleast) was that Okami was released to Wii. It was a better match IMO.

Otherwise. Wii is very dry when it comes to good games released recently. Brawl is fun with friends but that gets boring after 2 hours. Super Mario Galaxy is very fun but no replay value, same with Metroid Prime 3.

It's sad that I spend more time playing on my PS2 than on my Wii.

The consept for the Wii was and is great, the problem is that the WiiMotes technology is only so good that only some games does it right. And speaking of the games, some are great, some are good, most are terrible.

I feel the Wii was a success, although most will disagree. All Nintendos own titles were great Mario Galaxy/Zelda TP. There were a few other titles that were pretty good imo as well.

But because theres such a high quantity of crap on the console most people will remember it as being crap, shame really.
