I'll actually not belittle this thread because it's a perfectly valid poll for once. strange i know.

I don't use a picture of myself... simply because... I can't be arsed to change it... hold that thought...

Okay at some point it should change to me as Hercules giving a thumbs up. so yeah... actually me now (or soon?)

Yep, I do. Why? Erm, cuzz? I really don't know. Probably because I haven't found anything (besides this lame hourglass) that fits my forum name. The hourglass got tiring quickly.

Simple enough... do you use a real photo of yourself on this forum site as your avatar.

Basically, if you do, is there a reason you do?

If you don't is there a reason you don't?
because you look like a total bro?

No, but I think Prey's logo is cool so I use that, which some escapists were kind enough to animate.

You only see me once in your life. Pray it's not today. :)
Out of curiosity, was it you in your old avatar?

I dont use my own picture because I would like to divorce my likeness from my comments since there are many people who cant divorce thier feelings from debate...and you never know who is local or who is the kind of person who cant simply dissagree with you. The danger of the internet is anonymity, you never know who you are dealing with. Anonymity is your one defense, they dont know either.
I would give the same answers and pose the same comments when speaking in person, but the person I can see is safer than the person I cant.

As an avatar, not really, but sometimes as spray in CS:S.
Gotta love the "who's the chick?" distraction for cheap headshots :)

Yes, this image to the right? That is me. Absolutely. No doubt. For Sho'.

OT: I don't because I don't want to grace you with my Godly appearance. It'd be too much for ye mortals to handle.

Rest assured that if there were pictures of my true form anywhere on the net, whether that small or not it would have combusted. Just trust me on it. You don't want to find out for yourself. It could be lethal.

O rly? [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.108007]

And I thought Ultrajoe was the only person who faked their identity at that event.

On topic, feel free have a guess at whether or not my avatar's me.

I think me and Rorschach are pretty much opposites when it comes down to our characteristics:

-He's one of the shortest characters in Watchmen and I'm over 6ft tall.
-He's a very violent character and I'm a pacifist.
-I've always had a middle class background and his mother is a prostitute.
-We look completely different.

But when it comes down to why I use him as an avatar, I guess it's originally because I found him to be my favourite character at the time and it was shortly after going to see Watchmen, so I guess that has something to do with it all. And following that, I just decided that Rorschach would probably be how people remember me if they do. It has kind of actually become my internet portrait, instead of my real life portrait, despite the irony of having him as an avatar.

I hate to be a searchbar *****, but... we had this topic about a week ago [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.151114?page=1], and it's a fairly specific subject.

Anyway, as I posted in that thread;
A combination of "I do not wish to be seen by complete strangers for no good reason" and "I really don't care about avatars". I wouldn't *really* mind putting a nice picture of me as my avatar (hell, I look awesome /flex), but on the flipside; you give me a reason as to why I should.

Edit:

As kick ass as it would be to be General RAAM, ...
Nooo. Nononono. A character named 'General Raam' is not kickass. Raam is the Dutch word for window >.>. It's terrible naming right there.
Dude, general window would be kickass! "You can't see me, I'm transparent!"
Transparent, but incredibly fragile.

Unless he is made of bulletproof glass?

I hate ALL pictures of myself. 'nuff said. Besides I think a carefully chosen avatar pictures says alot more about you and your personality than a photo ever can.
