I hate to be a searchbar *****, but... we had this topic about a week ago [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.151114?page=1], and it's a fairly specific subject.

Anyway, as I posted in that thread;
A combination of "I do not wish to be seen by complete strangers for no good reason" and "I really don't care about avatars". I wouldn't *really* mind putting a nice picture of me as my avatar (hell, I look awesome /flex), but on the flipside; you give me a reason as to why I should.

Edit:

As kick ass as it would be to be General RAAM, ...
Nooo. Nononono. A character named 'General Raam' is not kickass. Raam is the Dutch word for window >.>. It's terrible naming right there.
Dude, general window would be kickass! "You can't see me, I'm transparent!"
Transparent, but incredibly fragile.

Unless he is made of bulletproof glass?
YES!

I use mine for a few reasons.

Its a rad picture, I don't really care if people know what I look like, my good looks get me friend requests.

No, because all my recent pics happen to be my senior pics and I find them to be too girly. I did use a pic of me on here for a while, but I was using my puppy as a sheild...my poor, chubby kitty.

I do, and my username is my actual name. I do it because. . . uhm. . . because I don't see a reason why I shouldn't.

No, I don't.

There's a video of me somewhere on here, but I've been careful to disguise some of my features in a way that made me look like a cultist. I don't want people to know exactly what I look like.

It doesn't really matter to me if people post their images in their avatars or not, because I don't see avatars in that way. It's just a symbol varying in complexity from my perspective, and all it does is represent a specific user.

Simple enough... do you use a real photo of yourself on this forum site as your avatar.

Basically, if you do, is there a reason you do?

If you don't is there a reason you don't?
I voted yes,

I wouldn't want to use a picture of myself as my avatar simply because I'd hate to be regodnized should anyone I know stumble across this forum. I've always kept my 'internet life' (if you can call it that) and my 'real life' separate.

I don't wish to get the same reaction that I do in real life from gaming types. Examples include people asking my work collegues (I work in a game store) "Since when did this store hire [blondes/chavs/girls/hot girls]."
You sort of get fed up. :D

Eh, I don't think I'll ever use a photo of myself on here.
I like my classic Joe avatar, plus the only good photo I have of myself is me in a dress :p
