I always put on subtitles, and even look down on games that don't supply them despite having no necessary reason to need them. I've become obsessed with subtitles since I began to watch a lot of foreign films a few years ago. I even put subtitles on now for films in English in case I miss something.

I've only ever turned them off once, and that was for Bioshock due to the atrocious timing of them. Was this ever fixed?

Generally, yes, I do have subs on. I'm not sure why, though, guess I just prefer it. Sometimes it makes sense to, like in a noisy game, or when my beighbours are making a racket, but other times I just enable them, just because I can, I suppose.

I always enable them because I like to know what are the support characters nagging about when 1000000000 baddies are shooting my dumb ass or when their speeches are interrupted by a LOUD! noise. That and I like to understand what some of them funny-accent-guys are saying :D

Subtitles are almost *LOUD BANG* needed in some games..

Yah... without I think I would go crazy, espically I was playing a game where I missed the way to kill the boss because I had someone shouting at me over the phone while I was trying to play..

Most of the time I use subtitles.

Especially so if it's a foreign game & original audio is available. Deliveries and writing tend to make more sense in the original language.

Yes, whenever i have the chance.

My main language isn't english so sometimes i lose a word here or there and even though it might not be much i don't want to miss anything.

I've used subtitles in ever single game (when possible) except for Fallout 3. And even then I still had subtitles on for the cutscenes and dialogue. Just not the ingame stuff. Like when a mutant roars, I don't want to see "ROOOAAARRGHH" float in yellow letters on the bottom of my screen. I already know he's roaring so that's just kinda silly.

I always do. You miss so much if you don't use subtitles to either backround noise, in-game noise, or other reasons. In GTA IV, when Niko and the other characters speak in their native languages, the subtitles let you know what they are saying, because of it I got much more out of the story than my friends did when they didn't use subtitles.

Whatever the default setting is, that is what it stays at. I mean, if they weren't on for a game like Mass Effect, then I'd be screwed, but for a game like Resident Evil, I want to laugh at the horrendous voice acting, so they can be turned off/completely ignored as far as I'm concerned.

I usually leave them on, for all the reasons mentioned, but for Mass Effect I turned them off for the more cinematic effect :p

yesd i always use subtitles because i prefer not to listen to the dialog the original version of a game that was bein tested by my friend (game name omitted) the spoken passcode and subbd word was different (subbd word correct) they have a problem with sticking to the script it doesnt matter in most cases but it cant hurt you it can only do good.

I'd have missed half of Condemned and all the audiologs in Bioshock if I hadn't. Didn't need them for Assassin's Creed or GTA: San Andreas though. I usually favor using them since I like following the story and seeing how well written the game is (I'm looking at you with a red pen Resident Evil), but it's not a compulsive change I make every time I start a new one.

I tend to put on the Subtitles just in case i miss something, i don't really know why TBH. but in a few games i've played recently for reasons i don't quite understand some lines have just gone completely over my head, for reasons like that i keep the subs on.
