According to Wikipedia, Boll uses his own production company to finance his films. He gets investors from Germany because of tax shelters that allow donors to write off 100% of film investments as tax deductions, and also he apparently gets 50% or something from the government.

So half of this soul-numbing badness is being financed by the German taxpayers? They are dealing with a fucking credit crunch! I am fairly sure they have better things to waste money on.

That is still puzzling as far as the investors go. Why does it make sense to finance films they know are going to fail? Why not give money to someone where there is at least a slim chance of a success? Would they actually loose money if they financed a profitable film?

1. Boll is smart enough to use this loophole.
2. He effectively has an infinite moneyz cheat enabled to make his films.

The worst part about it, is that he truly believes that he is a genius. That makes him incredibly dangerous. What if he became the German president or Prime Minister? The world would end.

Uwe Boll doesn't stop because he is:

"the only motherfucking genius in the whole terrible business" and that other directors such as Michael Bay and Eli Roth are "silly retards". He promises that his upcoming film Postal will be "way better than all that social-critic George Clooney trash that you get every boring weekend."

I'm going to go on a whiney bitchy mini-rant here.

Every already knows Uwe Boll is terrible okay? This is not a question. There is no one who, in their right mind thinks his films are good despite watching them for entertainment's sake. Threads like these aren't about whether or not about it being good or not, your just having a wank that your opinions are the same as everyone else. You know what I'd like? A fucking thread where someone defends Uwe Boll because we already have heard a million zillion times about how much his films suck and have the potential to suck more. There is NO need to make this a poll. Why is it that you feel the need to put a poll in a one-sided debate? There is no other side, and if that is your weak justification for making another fucking thread about this guy then please just go post in one of other Uwe Boll Threads (there are many).

Bottom line: You guys are going in circles just stroking each other's opinions that his movies are bad.

For the record no, he doesn't need to be stopped, its funny. What needs to happen is for his movies to be bad enough for people to stop making movies out of games, the art forms should remain separate.

So many game to movie adaptions are his and because so many do poorly, compared to Hollywood standards, people are avoiding doing more and doing them right. This isn't only his fault though as many others not done by him fail too.

But more importantly he's getting 50% of the funding for these films from the German government, which means those funds aren't being put to a good use either by other possibly good film makers or back into other areas of the community. I have no idea of the numbers but how many homeless shelters or schools could be funded for half the cost of one of his films.

I personally really dislike him, but he's not worth worrying about or anything. His films are somewhat watchable at times depending on mood and soberiety, though I haven't seen them all either.

Nah, someone else would make the adaptations and the difference would not be enough to do any difference in my opinion. Regarding the funding... they would not end up where they are needed anyway. But yeah, one could try redirecting it if he was no more, just like with everything else. The main problem is almost always distributing.

I get into them everyday of my life. But occasionally it's nice to agree and have a laugh. This, as you said, happens to be a topic we can all agree upon.
