Although they're not 'Art' as I would define it, they're more so than a sport, because they've got a story to tell (usually, if you look deep enough past the gimmicks)

So yeah, Art.

The multiplayer portion of games tend to lean towards sport (and overwelming douchebaggery), but most of it is art.

Though I'm not too sure about games being art. I just brand games as "play this for funnies" and move on.

Only some games can be called art. Games are most definitely not a sport. Like Omikron said, they're a hobby and a pastime rather than an art form. I don't spend my time admiring the artistic talent of the developers. Not to mention the fact that all art is interpreted how you choose and most games hold their meaning at face value rather than under the surface.

With only these available choices, I'll choose art. For other people it may be more of a sport. But I really enjoy "composed" games where the developers really thought about characterization, storytelling and atmosphere, like in Half-Life, BioShock or Homeworld. Like Sinclose above me already noted, it's can depend on whether you look at Singleplayer or Multiplayer.

I feel video games can have artistic parts. But in no way should a game be called sport.

To me, games are more art than sport. I imagine to many people, they're more sport than art - professional starcraft players strike me as a good example of that. They're big enough to be both, really, but since they're not an option, to me, personally, I play them for a story, and for how it's told, and to live through an experience. Art, for sure.

I cant choose :/
They are both.
Theyer something created from nothing.

What was dead space? nothing. Then the creators designed it, the artists sketched it, the programmers built it and the marketing team sold it.

It was made from litterally an ideam hardwork and nothing more.

And if thats not art, i dont know what is.

And its sport, because you can get money from playing it. look at Halo, starcraft and COD. They all have leagues, tournaments, offical teams, sponsors..... Video gaming is a sport. Its competative.

Sure if your playing a game like rock band or guitar hero, your not always against other people, but that doesnt mean you arnt trying to get the highest score possible.

Video games are both art and sport. Weather it be the Cell Shaded beauty of Borderlands, or the frag-tastic gibbing in Unreal.

It depends on the game. A game with a wonderfully crafted singleplayer such as Mass Effect isn't really a sport at all, whereas a game such as StarCraft II, while it still is art, also has a major e-sports group.

I would have to say sport as a distinct majority of games are in no way Art (I would consider story telling to be literature as apposed to art)

Video Games in no way qualify for the main definition of sport [http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sport]. It qualifies as a sport in secondary definitions, but often time secondary definitions in no way follow everyday usage. Like how Political beliefs easily fall under secondary definitions of Religion [http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Religion]. On the other hands it easily follows both the primary definition of Art [http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Art] and everyday usage of the word. If movies, books, and music are art, so are games.

Games as a whole are currently far more of an art form. I'd say that Mario or Pong or Doom are definitely far more Sport/game time sinks rather than art. But they've matured into a real storytelling medium and can accomplish all of the things that other art forms are said to be art because of. And hopefully, it'll continue to move towards art and away from useless time sinks. They still have the potential to be fun, but they need to be more complicated than shoot guy in face, get points. I'd think that those more fun games could take a style similar to more action-focused films, maybe even in multiplayer. Maybe, maybe even in multiplayer deathmatch.

Toy.

Played for enjoyment, entertainment, to pass the time with. Nothing wrong with a toy mind you, awful fun things they be, so don't take it as an insult as it's not one at all. A football is also a toy, but I still love my favourite FCs.

I do not consider video games a sport. Mind you I also don't consider horse riding a sport unless you are a horse, racing around a big circle in a car, nor being a hooligan. Video games can have exercise in them however which is good.

While I consider video games, like any visual and audio showing, an artistic medium. I don't consider video games by themselves or as a whole art. There is some amazing audio, visual, cinematic, and interactive art to be found though.
