I will watch the ending to a game I am interested in, but for whatever reason don't plan on actually playing, or if said game has multiple endings. I wouldn't look up an ending to a game until I have beaten it though if I plan on playing it or am playing it.

It depends on whether or not you're playing it for the story or the challenge/sense of accomplishment.

If I'm playing something primarily for the story, even if I do like the gameplay, and the challenge is getting in the way of my ability to enjoy it, I have absolutely no problem with pulling up the ending on youtube and calling it a day. That's what I did for the first Assassin's Creed and the first Silent Hill. Being able to say "I beat the game" isn't really the point because they aren't about winning. It's still frustrating though, because I can't escape the feeling that I shouldn't need to go outside the game to finish it. More often then not if I get to that point I end up feeling like there's something wrong with the design.

On the other hand, take something like Super Meat Boy. As much as the little story animations can be funny, the point of that game is being an awesome, challenging platformer. There's no real reason to look up the ending because you aren't trying to see the end so much as be able to say that you got through every obstacle the game put in your way.

I rewatch endings I like to games I've already beaten like P3. I usually don't watch the ending to games I haven't played with the exception of one or two

I like to watch them when there is 1. Lots of controversy surrounding it(after ME3 and for Fear 2 I had heard things that wanted to know if it was true) and 2. I don't feel like finishing the game. The story isn't strong enough for me to finish when the play aspect is crap to me and I just want to see where it goes anyways.

If I really enjoy the game, I'll stay off youtube.

only if i either am interested in the game but not interested enough to buy it or if i can not bring myself to play through it again for the other endings or if the game had such an amazing ending i had to re-watch it without the need to re-play it

Knowing the ending and achieving the ending are two completely different things. Yes, I often watch game endings on YouTube. No, it doesn't spoil a game for me or prevent me from completing it. In fact, it often makes finishing the game more satisfying because I knew what my goal was and finally got there. Process interests me more than surprise.

Farcry 3 I watched the ending I didn't choose because I knew that there was no way I'd play through the entire game from start to finish again just so I could see the other ending. So, generally, I don't watch endings on Youtube, unless it's a different ending to a game that I already have no more intention of playing again from the start.

I view a lot of endings. Mostly because some games I play don't have mission replays or new game plus, so the best way I can find to watch the ending without messing up some save data is to watch them online.

And to anyone who goes "But doesn't that spoil it for you?!" . Fuck off, that's my style, it's not effecting you, deal with it *****.

I don't watch endings on youtube, but I do read the comments. That is where many of the spoilers come from, I had red dead redemption and AC: brotherhood both spoiled in the comments section of games totally unrelated.

Not very often at all and when I do it's generally for either a game that I don't ever intend to play or because I do not feel like going through a game again just to see a different ending.

No, maybe if I beat the game and I do plan to get the multiple endings, but otherwise I'll only watch an ending if I'm uninterested in plying the game.

No.
I used to but then I looked up the ending to a game I actually ended up buying so I told myself never to look up a game ending again.

Sometimes when I cannot complete a game, but I'm still interested in a story.

Like with Resistance 3. I couldn't finish the game because my game kept freezing, but I liked the Resistance series so I looked up the ending.

yes. i play games for the story too but if the ending is the most important then you may be playing games for the wrong reason. thats kinda like saying orgasms are the only part of sex that matters (though im sure there are many people reading this and thinking, "why else would you have sex?"). i generally play through a game once. if i really like it i will play is again (so far i think i have only done this with the witcher, dark soul, demons souls, and mgs 3). however, i wont play a game a second time just for an alternate ending. if making different choices will considerably change how the story plays out and i actually enjoyed playing the game then year, i will play a game twice and make different choices, but if the only real change is the ending, then its a waste of time and ill just watch the alternate ending(s) on youtube

Yes I have, when a game that's story I've become invested in becomes too tedious and has way too much game time yet to go through. This is usually only the case for RPGs or Strategy games. I've never played an action game or platforming game that was too tedious to finish. Not saying they don't exist, but I've never had a problem with them. There are however, many blah/bland turn based RPGs.

That or if a game simply breaks on me. Or I want to know what the hype is but have zero interest in ever playing it, and its an old game like Baldur's Gate or something.

Or if a game has multiple endings (some have 6+!, especially older games) but I don't want to go through 80 hours of mostly the same stuff to see a different 30 second ending.

Usually I avoid youtube like the plague on games that I want to play but don't yet own. For example... I still don't have Skyrim, despite being super excited for it since it was released... and I would NEVER watch any youtube videos about it, and I'm kinda pissed about all the spoilers I've seen about it that are posted all over the internet. But I guess that's my fault for not having the money for it.

I find that weird though , can you give an example of a game that you didn't want to play but was interested in the story? Isn't the game about the story being told ?
For me, that would equate to anything and everything published by NIS America and every single Shin Megami Tensei title. I would much rather watch them, than actually play them.

No, I don't watch the ending to any game on YouTube. Why read the end of a book before it's time?

I only do this if there's a game whose ending I want to know but I don't want to play through to see.

Prime example: Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight.

Played through the first two missions, then gave up. I tried for a week to psych myself up to play the game again, but I couldn't muster it. About a month later, I read the ending on the wiki, then watched the endings on YouTube because damn it, I deserved to watch Joe Kucan's sendoff after more than a decade of waiting.
