sorry i ment that he rebuilt germany after world war 1 and i said "contraversal" for that reason i am not saying the halocust was good far from it (sorry if i spelled halocust wrong.) but just saying they would be hated by every gamer that has played a m rated game and enjoyed it only to have it taken away by some politician who dosent know anything.

But as i said well not really say but all forms of anything is judged by the reader player viewer ect for them to decide and i will honor what you say and sorry if you felt i attacked your point i just wanted to make that clear.

There have been many studies into this, and it has practically been confirmed as fact that there is absolutely no correlation between violence in games and violent acts in real life.

They shouldn't be banned, but there should be some sort of regulation for them.

EDIT: i can see im getting outnumbered here :p
I voted yes to be contrarian. I would like to see other systems used to indicate progress other than violence of course. We've been working that angle for awhile.

I can just see it: America bans violent video games, then imported violent games become a hot seller on the black market.
No they won't. Americans will do what Germans do: Amazon.com and the like

The stuff they are discussing over there isn't the ban of video games. It's making it illegal to sell games to those not old enough to buy them (we do that in Britain. It's called "get your parents to buy it instead"). The other thing is a massive sticker for 18 games, which is bigger than the British one, but still - Not a big deal. I've heard that Wal-mart does not sell A0 rated games anyway.

The OP mentions games like Columbine, an indi game (which the authors didn't release anyway. There are games which are controversial in nature, like the recent Holocaust shooter (which is actually somewhat based on fact, as there were some instances, one involving the Americans putting a Jew on the MG), but still, all indi.

Not going into GTA much. That stuff's ridiculous and poorly designed. If you lose your save you're frustrated. That and most cases of GTA controversy are mad: "grandma brought billy an '18', GTA, but was shocked when it lived up to the '18' rating. How that rating got there, she does not know"

All that's outraging is that the American government is taking the responsibility from the buisness and making it law. And the Governator apparently.

Wait what? It's not illegal? WHAT??? It's definitely different over here in NZ which is probably why a lot of minors play violent video games over there...

Anyway, no, NO!

To put our points together.
No! /thread

There isn't any evidence of the two linking towards each other so why would you ban games? This is a rather pointless question >.>

This is what the rating system is for, I think that anyone under the age of 17 should not be able to buy a M rated game, like COD for example. Kids are raised to think they are special, and they act rude online. Its quite bothersome.
