Poll: Virtua Tennis, was it the last good sports game?

When I was on YouTube recently I came across the Virtua Tennis soundtrack and a flood of nostalgia came back to me. It was one of the few games I use to play on the Dreamcast and I remember having so much fun with it. So I dug out my old Dreamcast and started playing it again. After about a couple of hours or so I came to a realization;

I was having fun, with a sports game.

I was baffled, I haven't brought a sports game in years let alone enjoyed one, but this game was so good I couldn't put it down. I've played other sports games recently like Fifa, Tiger Woods Golf, Madden and even NBA (Being in the UK the last two aren't that popular) but non touched that itch like Virtua Tennis did. The music, the mini games, multiple modes, the game was just fantastic.

Now, Im not the biggest fan of sports games, and I could just be nostalgia blinded, so I thought Id open this up to the forums. What do you guys think?

I'm going to have to say no and for me to be able to pick one sport game above the rest would just about be impossible.

I've had a lot of fun playing different games like Wrestlemania 2000, THPS 1 & 2, Skate 1, 2 & 3, the NBA 2K series, the FIFA & Madden series, Dirt 3, Fight Night Round 3.

If I had to chose a couple that I liked the most they would be NBA Hangtime and Wayne Gretzky 3D Hockey on the N64. They were some great games to play with friends.

Definately no, not even the best tennis game. Topspin 4 was much better than any virtua tennis game
