As some people have already pointed out, the Neural Impulse Actuator (See youtube) is already out and whiles it's very unpolished it's certainly well on it's way. I give at the most 10 years before we see our first public VR gaming system but it was most certainly happen. We have holograms, we have the ability to move keys and mouse with our minds (well, at the moment, our facial expressions) so we are not far off at all IMO.

it would be great if it could be done i just can't see how. maybe something involving being in a projection room with a lot of sensors
