Im going with the book. Its one of my favourite books of all time. A true masterpiece. Then the radio broadcast, then the first film, then the second film. The musical doesnt get a proper mention because its a musical. And i cant stand musicals

Seen and heard them all but I'd have to say the original book is the best. It's very "English" :p

I haven't heard the broadcast or the musical, and, to be honest, I don't rate The War of the Worlds particularly highly in any form, but, overall, I'd have to say I enjoyed the book the most, although I did manage to catch a repeat of The Tripods, and that was pretty cool.

1953 FILM.

OLD ONE OLD ONE OLD ONE.

I have NO IDEA why they remade it, and ruined it, and turned it into the garbage that they did.

ffs.

I prefer the superb Webcomic by Dark Horse. Unfortunatley, when I tried to look it up to post the hyperlink just now, it seems to have gone missing.

despite the musical being amazing the book remains as the best, the story is so brilliant and ahead of its time.

as stated i do love the musical, but despise the first film. i find if i watch the second film and see at as bearing no relation to its namessake it is in fact pretty good.

I love the musical. I went to the show and bought a shirt and a mug! And I have two copies of the CD and the DVD.

Where is the option for "I've neither read the book, seen the movies or musicals, nor listened to the radio broadcast"?

Because I haven't. Am I missing much?

Only heard the musical on CD, not live, but if it's anything like the CD then it's easily better than anything with Tom Cuise and that annoying kid in (can't stnd either of them).

3. The Tripods [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tripods] - A 1980's British science fiction TV series based on a series of novels set after the events of War of the Worlds, which assumed the aliens had been successful in their invasion.
...
Oh man I owe you. I thought I imagined that show I watched years ago.

Is that the one where humans are slaves and the aliens are like 1-eyed, 3 legged green things?
Yeah, that's the one.

I also used to think I imagined it, I had vague memories and flashes of images from when I watched it as a kid (I vaguely remember having dreams about Tripods walking across the fields outside my bedroom window). It certainly had very powerful imagery and left a lasting impression.

A year or so ago I heard it mentioned on some TV program and looked on YouTube for some clips (there are quite a few), and suddenly all those twisted images and memories came flooding back (especially about what they did to people's heads!).

It was quite a relief to know that I hadn't imagined it.
