Poll: Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium - WoW's Worst Nightmare?

So, I saw the ads for the new Warhammer 40k MMO, Dark Millennium and I must say that I am quite impressed. The idea of charging around with a chainsword and bolter seems like a load of fun, and I dare say that World of Warcraft has a new challenger.

I don't know about you, but I'd happily drop WoW for Dark Millennium knowing full well that it's basically the same game...except you're a Space Marine...with a chainsword!

Nothing NOTHING can "kill" WoW, other then itself. It doesn't matter how good a game is, how many people it gets, how many sales it gets. No game can effectively kill another off other then the sequel, and Blizzard announcing they are going to shut the servers down. So no, it won't kill it. Will it be a fun game? Possibly.

Any game that attempts to kill WoW by emulating them will fail. Guaranteed. People will always migrate back.

WoW seems to only hold my attention for no more than an hour. Maybe it's because of the 100+ hours I've logged on Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising, but I feel like Dark Millennium has a better chance of keeping me entertained.

You know, as much as I love the Warhammer 40k franchise, making a MMO game still is pretty much suicide for the company. Yahtzee said it best in his DC Universe Online review.

This game interests me alot, but to label it as a Wow killer seems silly nothing will outright kill Wow, and hyping a game as such nowadays after so many before it, just seems to irratate people and put them off a game they otherwise might be interested in.

With a sci-fi setting it will likely appeal to a different fanbase, coming down to personal preference if you prefer gritty sci-fi or more cartoony fantasy, warcrafts world or warhammers.

With barely any information announced and only one playable race so far confirmed it is way too early to laud it as a Wow killer regardless of the quality at this moment in time.

That aside i personally remain cautiously optimistic about this game, aslong as it isn't released within a year of The Old Republic it may have a chance and truly hope that it manages to find a place in the MMO world.

Nothing will kill WoW, unless Blizzard decides to commit suicide and pull the plug. Despite having a lot of hope for Dark Millennium, I expect it will pass into the ranks of the 2nd tier MMOs without much of a fuss, and probably stabilize at fewer than one million subs.

Everybody realizes that I started this thread merely for fun and to see what everyone's opinions were of one game versus another? It is always interesting to see what people will defend.

I am aware that Dark Millennium has little to no info surrounding it and that WoW has grown to be the king of MMOs. I figured it would be fun to assert my own opinions.

I DO NOT think that WoW is a bad game at all, just that I am much more excited by a Warhammer 40k MMO as opposed to a Warcraft one.
