I usually use a bow at long range, then switch to duel wielding lightning at mid range, then when enemies get in close or when I'm in dungeons I switch to duel wielding the best two single handed weapons I have. Works marvels, especially when I'm just mowing down entire groups of bandits using only lightning.

You know what the best thing is, there is such a variety here and things are pretty much even across the boards. It just shows how different playstyles are all absolutely viable in Skyrim. Loving so far. I'm a stealthy assassin that uses one handed weapons or bows to pick off enemies while also having a really strong offensive magic component to fall back on when shit hits the fan

Nord(it's what I always start with and hey, why not, it's Skyrim) with an ax(the shock one you get from the jarl) and a shield. Sometimes swapping in flamethrower fist for the shield, using my first shout as a kind of stunner(I just reached high hrothgar)

Oddly enough I've been giving bounded weapons a shot this go around. I picked a Breton as my class and so decided use the race's natural affinity for conjuration (it started at lvl25) to good use. I'm level 6 and can summon a single handed sword that deals as much damage as a comparable 2-handed battleaxe. For now it works, only time will tell if they remain viable as I progress in levels.
.
It's important to stick with your race affinity at first. I kicked arse with my Thief/Archer Bosmar with its awesome sneaky attacks.
I would disagree... I've chosen to go Argonian that focus' on magic and it seems to be going perfectly fine. While I'll admit that it's probably simpler to get a feel for, It's hardly that important. The elder scrolls has always been about freedom and I think Skyrim keeps this alive perfectly... Now with that out of the way. Why am I still here and not on skyrim!

At First , because it gives you an advantage. *cough*
Why am I not in Skyrim right now? Back to racist-ville! Off we go, my Bosmar!

EXACTLY how I play my game. I just love killing those game animals!
I've tried once to touch a mammoth, I flew two hundred feet in the air!

Force lightning FTW!
Basically this... Except I mix it up with conjuring Flame Atronachs and a shiny Steel axe. I'm currently playing a Blind old Mage, so it's a little immersion breaking when people call you boy >.>

Burnt a Giant to death with the help of the Companions, am currently using Dual lightning with the bonus in dual wielding destructive spells to make them a lot more powerful :D

So far - lvl 7 - it's mostly Sword and Spell, but I'm fairly certain that I will turn out to be a stealthy archer assassin.

No doubt does it give an advantage, but not exactly an important one, which was the key word I touched on :p

I am angry that they dumped unarmed. It was hilarious when you could run around punching everything to death. So I still haven't really settled on a style yet.
I was a little annoyed about this as well, until I saw the Fists of Steel perk I mentioned before. The perk is apparently only for Heavy Armor fighters, so as soon as I start playing again I will try this.

For leveling up how to make a decent warrior that can still cast spells without looking like a fool?

Currently, Orc with Heavy Armor and Sword 'n Board for me. So basically a walking wall of steel.
With a Bow to take out casters, though I am undecided if I want to invest into Archery perks.

Later on I'll definitely give a Darkelf Mage-Assassin a try with Archery, Magic and probably Dual Daggers.

To bad that there are no Dwarfs, my favorite race of stubborn tanks of them all.
