I'd avoid it. Senseless action covering an already half dead and twitching plot claiming to be, "empowering" women. Ya, this movie is about as empowering as a pimp film. Don't watch it.

The CGI was the only thing that impressed me. It was a horrible experience and I would have left the cinema if it wasn't for my friend who was really enjoying it.

I thought it was attempting to be deeper than it actually came accross as. I liked it, but found the use of 3 realities over the top. If they had simply based it in the mental asylum, and had them enter the crazy dream reality to escape that, it would have been much darker, and in my opinion, much better.
I can't speak on the whole "Hot chicks everywhere" matter, because, well, I'm really not interested so didn't really notice :/.

It's my new favourite movie now alongside fight club. I think it has a really good message and the ending is fitting to the movie.
I think the whole bordello thing was down to the fact that was what the mental hospital really was. It was almost like the asylum itself was a lie if you see what I mean and babydoll was seeing the reality of her situation.

I can understand where Snyder was coming from, pointing the finger at those who came simply for fanservice and trying to put a spin on the whole 'female empowerment' gig. The sad thing is that it failed. The message was lost in a muddy, often lifeless story and action scenes that should have been exciting, but weren't.
The problem for me was the female characters. Moviebob says they were deep? They weren't. At the end of the day those girls were cardboard cut-outs put there to help Snyder prove a point that got lost in translation anyway. They had no relationships together, no character development... I just didn't care whether any of them lived or died.
Plus it came across as a very nasty little movie. Rape, murder, abuse and lobotomies all became little set pieces that made things ever more unpleasant - and yet I still couldn't feel for the characters. Their trials were so poorly executed that it seems like a mockery of suffering instead of a proper representation. Grit for grits sake, and it's just unpleasant. It didn't make me feel sorry for the characters at all, just squirm.
Now, in fairness, the effects and scenery were amazing and the dream sequences were beautiful. The actors were fine, but had only bad dialogue to work with which didn't do their performances any favours. It could have been great with good writing, but there was none of that to be found.
So no, I didn't like it at all.

I ended up seeing it two times. It's not quite my favorite movie, but I found it to be at least rewatchable. Very good soundtrack (except for white rabbit) and while the characters aren't too brilliant, there was something about Rocket which just made me love her. I can't figure it out, it's just something. Overall, it's watchable, and after exiting the cinema first time round, i told my friend who I watched it with "that will be the closest we shall get to a timesplitters film". Regardless of whether its good or bad, you should go watch it, it's too unique to miss.
The only problem I had is that I was so blown away from the first fight scene which almost me burst into tears in awe of it, (I'm still trying to work out why it affected me that way) that the feeling wasn't replicated by any follow up action scenes. That being said, each scene was visually amazing and the plot was of equal calibre.
i liked it. i don't think it worked as well as it could have, but it was still a fun watch and a tiny bit more cerebral than typical action flicks.

I went to see it with a bunch of friends, and they simply didn't like it. They thought the action was fine, but the overall story wasn't to their taste. Then I pointed out to them that they were all guys, and maybe it wasn't directed towards them. I personally thought it was a fine film. I can understand the need to cloak a horrible existance with fantasy, and while the ending was a bit of a bummer, it was certainly better than other movies I have seen this year.
I liked it. Not super enthusiastically or anything, but I did enjoy it as much as any other recent movie. From a flat entertainment perspective it had dazzling action and beautiful women, and I enjoyed what all of that was supposed to represent on a symbolic level, too.
Everyone I saw it with hated it though. I honestly don't think they got the whole point of the CG sequences/brothel story-wise, though.

I saw it twice in Imax, so yes, It was amazing, and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I thought it was pretty good. I mean if you're a 15-20 year old male what's not to like about good looking girls dancing around in not a lot of clothes and kicking ass at the same time?
A couple of things annoyed me about it though.
1. The commander guy kept saying "Oh and one more thing." or something similar, which I just found annoying.
2. Why did the Asian have to have the giant robot thing? Seriously...

Overall I enjoyed it a lot, but I wouldn't say it's that good a movie. I mean, I loved the soundtrack and all the effects, I'm a huge fan of Emily Browning because she's from Melbourne, and I found it quite touching too, but in retrospect, the story was somewhat bland and out of all the main characters, only about three of them meant anything to me.
Still, samurais and zombies and dragons make for a fun movie. I really didn't like it. The acting was terrible in my opinion, action scenes shit and plot confusing. I could go on but knowing that I didn't enjoy any aspect of it is good enough.
