The DLC was completely ruined for me and alot of my friends all because....

melee cool down. you can see my frustration when being swarmed and trying too beat away zombies trying too get away from the millions of tanks every minute in survival. but the problem exactly is when you hit the swarm by the time the melee is recharged there all in your face again and new zombies are joining the crowed so its IMPOSSIBLE too move. but if the melee cool down wasn't there it would be the best dame thing.

Melee Cool down was added in like, March. But I get your point, even though it's never happened to me. As long as you stick together with your teammates, it shouldn't occur that often.

Also, it really only comes into play in survival mode, which is supposed to be insanely difficult.

Let down? No. It was a free download pack, which is rare nowadays. The survival mode is fun, the new versus maps are great, and I have no problem with melee cooldown.
All in all, I like it. Much better than some $10 DLC I've seen.

I'm just glad it was free. It seems like most developers are using DLC as an excuse to charge you for patches (with the exception of Fallout 3, Fable 2, and Guitar Hero/Rock Band)

Also, I'm pretty sure they added the cooldown to melee to make you use more ammo. Ammo's not exactly scarce in the game, but when you have to spin the right analog stick (or mouse) in a circle really fast while unloading to clear your path instead of pushing through a crowd of weaker-than-newborn zombies with your elbow. Now, I'm actually glad when I see ammo on the ground.

Now that I think about it, I like the cooldown. Now it takes timing to stop a hunter midpounce instead of spamming melee as soon as you see it. Adding the cooldown makes us rely on other aspects of the game, which is something every game should try to achieve in some way.

If it's free, it isn't a let down to me. I give Valve kudos just for releasing free DLC, unlike other companies like Capcom who charge you extra for something that is already on the disc.

I like it. What better way to use the engine and simulate a zombie Apocalypse then nonstop waves of zombies. Now that's a zombie game.
I don't have a problem with melee cooldown. As long as you don't spam melee then you you can rapid fire like 4 times before cooldown even starts. It forces you to act more strategically rather then spam melee everywhere.

kind of, when they said 16 new maps, i didn't expect variations of the original 4...

It's ok, but the new gap between melees is both unnecessary and shit, it's artificial difficulty. Not to mention that you can't swing and reload anymore either, as if Advanced and Expert weren't hard enough anyway.

It was only added to the 360 version when the DLC came out. On the Subject of melee cooldown i think it's a good thing and forces players to get better.

On topic nope it wasnt a let down. It's free and awesome. The maps are great and the survival mode is fun. There is a lot of glitches in the survival mode though. I've seen plenty of people with scores over 30 mins.

Yes. It was. I played survival a few times before I realized it's nowhere near as fun as the campaigns.

PS: I'd pay Valve for an update that actually lived up to expectations.

Everyone is complaining about the melee cooldown, which was added in early march... At least for PC players (and why would you play an FPS on console in the first place =P ) But really it's just a balance thing for Versus. At least it used to be. It was supposed to prevent boring morons from just camping a corner until the tank came at the last map and to make hordes more effective. It's not part of campaign gameplay.

Now I don't know about the Survival thing as I haven't tried it out yet... but I still think that it's there to make sure you don't just stand in a corner and hold down the right mouse button =P

Seriously?
Then I've been playing for a month without noticing... was it only in versus to begin with or something?

While I understand and agree to be honest the melee spamming was being abused and being able to stand in a closet and spam melee so they never get to you was making the game far to easy.
