So image, if you will, this situation:
After dinner one evening you hear a knock at your door. Opening it you find a man dressed in white holding two envolopes. The man gives you a choice. Inside one evolope is a cheque for a very large sum of money, enough to live comfortably and never having to work for the rest of your life. In the other is a thing-bob (you decide what it looks like) that will grant you great wisdom and understanding. Not vast inteligence, not the powers of telepathy or precognision, simply wisdom and understanding, i.e. what you know you understand, and you make wise choices in life et cetera.
(This isn't one of those 'who is that guy? Can we trust him?' type threads I was just trying to spice up the question with a story.)
So I ask you, given the choice, which would you take?
According to the book of Proverbs we should desire understanding over wealth but what do you think?
Discuss!
Personally I'd be very tempted by the money, but, if you're wise maybe you'll be able to make good decisions and so you won't need lots of money to be happy?
