so I was thinking and I wondered what was the best type of weapon in a fps?

but in modern games it seems to be what every shoots faster and further (so generally SMG's)

but no one can beat a gun that can shoot shurikens and lightning

I prefer sniper weapons but they aren't the best weapons, a situational weapon but I like them.

and yeah it's good but there's so danged little ammo for it, I'd say something like the buckler from Tribes Vengeance being that it can deflect any and all projectiles (coming straight at you) and then you can throw it like some saw-blade boomerang

but that's if we're saying best weapon all in all

i tend to go with assault rifles there more versatile than most other weapons but its all down to what your good with

The needler from halo: shoot lots of tiny pink needles as someone until they explode in a pink blast, oh yes.

Personally anything:
high powered, low rate of fire and medium ranged.

I like to be sneaky, so usually the sniper rifle. However, I much prefer the Covenant's sniper rifle, the Particle Beam Rifle. It has as many, if not more, shots than a fully-loaded UNSC sniper rifle with full ammo reserves, and it's much quieter, which is much more useful on stealth attacks. That baby saved my Rookie's life on more than one occasion on my first ODST playthrough...

Long range buck shotguns i reckon. The Assault Shotgun from L4D is pretty close, long range, high damage, decent spray.
But i'll tell you my dream:

The spartan laser, no warmup time, hand-held, no cool down, and unlimited ammo.

Shotguns with a good feel to them, and that have a nice effect on the enemy. Other than that I've started liking LMGs from playing BC2.

The railgun from Quake because nothing quite matches that blue swirl after the round whizzes past after the cool discharge sound (I am thinking of the Quake 2 one). Failing that go with what you use best.

Personally: The best weapon I have ever used in any shooter is the Stakegun from Painkiller.

Accurate, powerful and fun to use with enough ammo to not become an emergency weapon.

Ehh I like rifles in games and real life not sniper rifles sniping in games has become the "n00b/cheap" thing to do and takes very little skill in games nowa days. I guess thats why i like BFBC2 because i get to kill people with the m1 garand though i also like handguns.

Edit: On second thought, I suppose it could go either way. Not certain what the official rule regarding acronyms is. Are they treated as if they were actually words that started with a vowel just because they sound that way if you read out the letters?
