Haven't seen white ones being sold, but I have my red poppy right here. Gonna give a full 2 minutes silence tomorrow at 11 too, even though I'll be in labs. Heh.
Well, you know what they say: if you can't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.Fetzenfisch said:I bet those that got killed arent that big fans of war anymoreLilani said:I see. So, basically they're taking a day that is supposed to honor those who've given their lives to serve and turning it into an anti-war/military political statement. They're just full of tact, aren't they.El Poncho said:The white poppy is essentially the same as a Red poppy except the white poppy is also a protest to sending more people to war. We honour those in the war every year yet we still send people to their deaths.Lilani said:What is with this whole white poppy versus red poppy thing, anyway? It's so petty. It dishonors all those who need to be remembered and distracts from the entire purpose. I'll wear a chartreuse poppy, if necessary.
That's a bloody good prayer you've posted, thank you, i'll remember it.The Bum said:I'd wear one but for life of me I don't know where to find one in the US. So I'll just wear my red one.
On a side note heres a little somthing I like to read on rembrance day.
Dear Lord,
Lest I continue my complacent way,
Help me to remember that somewhere,
Somehow out there,
A man died for me today.
As long as there be war,
I then must,
Ask and answer,
Am I worth dying for?
Actually there are quite a few countries that turned their military anniversary days etc in days contra war. its pretty plausible.Octorok said:If I see anyone wearing a white poppy, telling the world, "Oh yeah man, let's all put down the war man, we still kill soldiers in Iraqistan man, and it's not right." I fully intend to actually tear it off and punch them in the mouth in the hope that they learn some fucking respect for the armed forces.
It's a fucking disgrace. Remembering civilians is one thing, but using Remembrance Day as an anti-war statement earns you a smack to the face. I'd like to see them fight a war, then give their opinions.
It's not about helping anyone. It's about using force to teach them not to wear a white poppy on Remembrance Day. The words, "Take it off, or I'll break it off" are useful in that regard.Fetzenfisch said:Actually there are quite a few countries that turned their military anniversary days etc in days contra war. its pretty plausible.Octorok said:If I see anyone wearing a white poppy, telling the world, "Oh yeah man, let's all put down the war man, we still kill soldiers in Iraqistan man, and it's not right." And incriminating yourself because you dont like an others opinion wont help anyone.I dont expect everyone to be of my opinion and i wont use force to "convince them" by dragging them first to hopsital and then getting sued my ass of for a reason.Thats a pretty weak approach. Just ignore them, like i ignore our politicians stating we should defend our country at freaking Hindukush, if they wont to make some trouble they shouldnt send in others and do it themselves.

I won't just ignore these people. The whole, "Oh, just ignore them/it won't help/can't change their opinions" side of things is just modern liberal talk for, "You're not allowed to lamp them one for spitting in the eye of the soldiers who fight for our freedom." something I think ought to be rectified.
I'm pretty sure all Commonwealth countries have Poppies. UK, Canada, NZ, Australia...Gentle Dementia said:Well I'm a filthy American pig-dog so I'm just going to sit over here while you guys have culture.
EDIT: The poppy thing has to do with an Australian war right? If not you may classify as stupid as well.
