Sometimes that people will not be able to enjoy the work of artists who have political and moral compasses which conflict with their own. Sometimes this is only the case because their views and opinions are reflected in their works.

I've argued before (probably in a thread here but I don't remember) that "I don't care what a film director or an actor is in person, if their films are good then I'll enjoy them regardless. But while randomly recalling this argument just now, I wonder how I would feel about my favorite things if I discovered the artist were somebody who was just completely awful.

I don't intend for this thread to be super-serious, so I'm going to use a bit of a silly example.

Would you still enjoy your favorite games, films, music, youtube videos, etc if you had found out one of the creators (director, writer leading actor, lead designer, etc) literally ate babies?

What are some examples of an things you either stopped/continued liking because/despite the fact that you think the creator is a terrible human being?

((It wont let me edit the poll

I'd probably encourage other fans to stop offering their first-born children to him/her...

Other than that, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy their products in a manner that especially benefits them (like, buying music from the band's site), but not much else would change.

edit: by the way, I assume you mean that they're nasty people with nasty beliefs, not that they're actually murdering babies!

I know a few lost prophets fans who feel kinda guilty. I know you said not to take it seriously but it is a genuine example not too dissimilar to your example

I think I would stop purchasing their stuff. Id probably download it illegally (please dont get all moral against piracy when the artist is eating babies)

You shouldnt stop liking the movies/songs or whatever because of the actions of the artist(s). To a lesser extent I really cant stand Liam and Noel Gallagher but im a huge fan of their music

That's pretty much what I meant, I just used a joke example to lighten the mood a little. I wanted the example to be extreme but not serious.

I'll laugh so hard if you get a warning for this post.

Theoretically, I believe in separating the art from the artist, but... I don't believe I would necessarily be able to do that. I think I would enjoy it a little less.

Somewhat, I would be more concern at how the authority ain't doing anything about it or is this like a secret you had stumble into?

Anyway I would probably still like that person work/ creation but I would still give him/ her the weird look.

It more like saying if you still like Michael Jackson musics despite the controversial that surrounded him when he was alived (ok eating babies is worse than what he pulled but still).

A quick message from shootthebandits legal team

"Shootthebandit does not condone and never will condone piracy unless the artist is convicted beyond reasonable doubt of being a baby eater. Since no artist has been convicted of such a crime shootthebandit by technicality doesnt support piracy at all"

I was going to make a post saying I don't really care about asshole artists but then you just reminded me of Lost Prophet. I never was a big fan of Lost Prophet but I was open to listen to new material but since I've seen the court report of the case of Ian Watkins, I just won't bother trying. To me Lost Prophet is dead. The band is cursed.

The other members should disband and go to other projects.
Apparently everybody (minus Watkins) resigned, except they haven't disbanded. So it's as if they kicked out Watkins, but at the same time they're not part of Lostprophets anymore because they're changing their name and their label.

On April 25, 2014, it was confirmed by ex-Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly that he would be working with the remaining band members on their new project, from a record label perspective through his own label, Collect Records, as a producer, though he won't be officially joining the band, as was previously rumored.
