I voted for the ban of the hateful WBC. If there is a God, I'd like to see him smite them. Then what would they do?

Fundamentalist christians obviously.

I hate those with a passion. They always try to force their retarded world view down other peoples throats.
It's not a Fundamentalist Church option it's a WBC aimed option. I am a fundamentalist Christian and I can't stand WBC

I picked the WBC because they are sick people. PETA is a close second because they, too, are a group of bad people.

It stands between WBC and PETA for me.
I think WBC are worse though, at least PETA stands for a good cause (when you get past the retardeness, stupidity and blood throwing i.e. 90% of it) whereas WBC and the like are just gatherings of the ignorant and stupid.

Please don't try to link WBC with actual Christians, while some Christian groups may be more forceful in their views than others there is no comparison to WBC they are simply a hate group and nothing they do is even remotely considered Christian.

OT: I choose Dbags on X-box live, the less I have to hear of them the better.

I picked Fundamentalist Christians option, though Fundamentalist Religious People would be a better choice.

I picked the XBL option myself due to the fact that one of my more annoying experiences was playing "Soul Calibur IV" and getting reported for poor sportsmanship every time I beat someone it seemed. I'm not even all that good at fighting games, and had a slightly below 50% win rate, so it's not like I was winning every game with some kind of exploit or whatever. This is one of the reasons why I so rarely play games via console online right now because I feel any kind of automated system is by definition unfair since it allows anyone and everyone to file complaints for anything, legitimate or not, and the system takes them seriously and it can put permanant marks on your record by costing you stars and such.

I'm a Christian myself, though I disappove of the acts of groups like the WBC. I did not however select them because I am a massive believer in free speech, and the right to assemble and protest. While annoying to those being picketed, I feel stopping this kind of thing will lead to bigger problems.

I am also to be honest a defender of so called "hate speech" because I feel freedom of speech cannot exist when you start making exceptions. To say you can't express your dislike of gays, minorities, or any other group publically in a protest is to engage in moral censorship and that never ends well when that door is opened no matter how well intentioned it might be.

I extend this to other groups like PETA (which was mentioned), annoying dweebs they may be, but they have the right to express their opinion just as I have the right to disagree with it.

When it comes to the WBC my biggest issue with them is that I don't really see their point. The entire purpose of christianity is supposed to be to save souls, and get people to acknowlege Christ as their personal savior. In general he seems to operate as a prophet of doom, running around screaming that it's already too late, insulting the memories of the dead, and other things. He's not even trying to convert anyone as far as I have been able to tell, he's just out to be offensive and create his own cheering section for it.

I'm not a big fan of trying to convert people left and right, so don't misunderstand this. In the end I'm not a deeply spiritual person. It's simply that I can't even see this being defended as being missionary work.

I've always thought that the proper way to do these things was to set a positive role model. Sort of like how Mother Theresa was a missionary, and along with her religion she brought aid and comfort for the people of Calcutta. She didn't come walking in (as far as I can tell) screaming that the people of Calcutta were poor and wretched because god hated them, and then go running around dishonoring memories of the dead. I mean heck, even if a dead person was a bad person in life, their families still doubtlessly loved them, and everything else aside Funerals exist for the people who are still alive as much as anything.

Ah well, enough rambling. I guess the point is that I personally don't get him. I am not a christian extremist, but truthfully he seems a bit more than just an extremist. I don't think you can judge even fundementalists by the WBC and Fred Phelps.

That... was just awesome!

OT: WBC, those bastards went outside a store that sold swedish vacum cleaner to pick on my country! Which is Sweden.
I wish I could take credit for it. I saw it on the back of a T-shirt in an outfitting store.

what do you mean by WBC? do you mean BWC biblical worldview christians?
Edit: and let me clarify somethings
1) i am a fundementalist christian
2) i really dont think this thread will go down well, i mean, it is just another fucking hate thread
Are you sure? I don't know what everyone else's definition is, but my definition of a fundimentalist is someone who takes the Bible word for word as a history book, believes that evolution is not possible even as a theory (because it's not in the Bible) and condemns (sometimes using violence, but not always) anyone and everyone who has a different opinion than themselves. They are also notoriously intolerant of anything that goes against their (or their preacher's) interpretation of the Bible.

As I said, that's just my definition. If you don't do those things, I wouldn't consider you a fundimentalist.

OT: WBC, definately. They make all religious people look like psychpathic nutjobs.
to me, a fundamental Christian is someone who focuses on the fundamentals of the religion, knowing Jesus died for you, and that God loves you, and wants you to love others.

Huh. That's my definition of a good Christian.

This is very interesting, I must admit. I like how the same word can mean to different things to two different people.
