Without more details what kind of Vampire/Werewolf, I can't decide.

If it means to be like Alucard from the Hellsing anime, obviously Vampire.

Vampire.
But I do dislike this thread from the start. Why do Werewolfs always have to be vs Vampires these days?
It's getting boring.
But I would rather be a vampire. The whole cape thing would look good on me.

Werewolf. I wanna sunbathe.
Because I'm sick of our Swedish winter.
Altough both choices have benefits and drawbacks

Vampire. Time to study necromancy and take over the world!

Who gives a shit about sunlight if you can just go full-out Sauron and conjure up a cloud of darkness to cover the sun? Hell yeah.
Interesting definition of vampire. Most can't conjure up a cloud of darkness.

OT: I would go with Werewolf if it meant I was under control of my powers (like you assume vampires are). I like the sun and so forth, and I feel like a werewolf would be better in control of themselves. I also like shapeshifters.

Vampire, but not the pussified Twilight subspecies. Fuck, no.

Team Nosferatu all the way, over here. We're ugly as shit and we live in the sewers, but we know everything you'll ever do, as our ears are *everywhere*. Seeing as knowledge is power, we're pretty damned powerful. The other clans come to us for info, and we get to watch them squirm when we ask them to nudge dead rats and floating turds around. It's worth a million bucks when it happens to a stuck-up Toreador.

Not that all Torries are bad; but a frustrating majority of them have a stick shoved up their ass.

Vampire please, I'd like to stay in control of my condition and not lose my mind every time the moon is around. Besides there is something about being classy, having super human strength and being near indestructable with the exception of the sun.

As for feeding, I'd spend my time hunting the scum of the earth, terrorists, murderers and rapists, all make a good breakfast :)

This poll reminds me horrifically of Team Edward vs Team Jacob.

Please tell me that Twilight hasn't ruined these elements of fantasy fiction...

When you say vampire, do you mean this kind of vampire?
If so, then the answer is "Hell yes!"

Otherwise, I'll go with werewolf.

What versions of Werewolves and Vampires?

Are we doing the werewolf where once a month they are ravenous beasts who murder and commit mayhem. Or the ones who are unnaturally strong the entire month, but during their full moon, they can shapeshift and are even stronger. [gets stronger as the days get closer to full moon]

AND are we doing the classic Fright Night style vampire. Can't come inside houses, stakes, crosses [If only the user's faith is stronger than the vampire], beheading, etc. Or the ones from the Night Watch series that more or less follow the same rules but can go outside during daylight. Sunshine weakens them, but doesn't kill them. (To an 'Higher Vampire' he said the sun was an annoyance)

If it was classic vs classic, probably werewolf, just had to chain myself up near full moon.

If it was more 'modern' then vampire obviously. Blood Banks do exist for a reason, so if i need blood theennn... yeah

Depends on the werewolves and the vampires. Are we talking original werewolves wear once a month you turn into a monster and have no control or memory of the event, cuz no. If we are talking like, Mercy Thompson werewolves, God Yes. As for vampires, not really interested. Not unless it's a mythos of vampire that doesn't endanger my soul. Maybe like a Peep, but I'd still prefer werewolf, unless it's the original one.

Werewolf. Definitely. In my younger days though, I would have picked vampire.
Also, I just want to point out that a Lycanthrope is originally someone who suffers from a mental disease and only thinks he/she has changed into a wolf. Nowadays, the term describes werewolves.
The more you know.
I want to be like this werewolf:

Vampire definitely think of all the wacky powers vampires have, for example turning into animals, super strength, speed and reflexes, turning into mist, magic (sometimes), flight. the list could go on.
Also I live in the U.K where the weather is always crap, so I could go out in the day all I wanted.

Vampire.

No sunlight, no problem. I prefer the cool air of the night.

Depending on "version", you get all sort of cool powers too. Move faster than the eye can see, super strength, super regeneration capabilities, mind reading, hypnosis, creation of mindless undead servants and an assortment of "magic abilities".

As a werewolf, all you get is super strength and some regeneration capabilities. *yawn* That and I rather not turn into a hairy freak - I will probably smell too and get ticks.

Well, if no type is specified, I might as well go for the most awesome one. Most werewolf-people ain't going for the traditional 'terrible curse' or 'deal with Satan' types either.

Boring to repeat but whatever: depends upon the mythology. Being able to control werewolf transformation and not turn into a murderous killing machine once a month would swing it for me. However, the vampire who is only weakened by sunlight and doesn't have to live off blood would swing that for me... Lots of swinging.

Skyrim types - Werewolf. I can choose to go beast mode when I want to.
Traditional mythology - Vampire. I don't want to lose control and go apeshit just because the moon is out. I can become nocturnal if I have to.
Whatever the fuck Twilight is - Neither. I'll kill myself before I start to sparkle like an effing fairy.

think you maybe thinking of Lunatic not lycanthrope which is someone who has lyvanthropy which is the ability to transform into a wolf or take on wolfy traits which if memory serves is greek or asian mythology at root.

It all depends in which fantasy world we are living doesnt it, if were talking old school vlad tepis dracula stuff then vampire all the way, underworld id get hairy. white wolfuniverse hmm a ventrue or maybe a brujah prince would be a nice after life ;)

Already being a lycanthropic duck I'd have to go for vampire.
Maybe I could become one of those awesome hybrid things & hook up with Kate Beckinsale!

Despite my main world that I've built being highly anti-vampire, I'd prefer to be one.

But there's a whole line of specific requirements on various things before I'd allow it. Like minimal bloodlust (or a reliable source).
Sunlight isn't too much of an issue. Barely go out anyway.
