Mass Effect in the 40k universe would be fun.

I am also really surprised not to see "World of Warhammer 40k" up there... although people could argue that World of Starcraft would kinda satisfy those criteria.

A 40k MMO has been announced, I think.

RPG in a non-human world would be too difficult to pull off. It's like imagining a whole different civilisation. Humans work. Also, their surroundings are more colourful.
Imperial Guard a la Call of Duty?

You might want to mention that to Gav Thorpe (codex author); he seems to have constructed Eldar just fine - the nerve of him, imagining a whole different civilization!

Empire at War replacing everything with W40K things. This way you get fleet combat and ground combat and everything stays nice and brutal

I agree that taking another game and then slapping the 40K universe on it would be less then ideal. The 40K world is rich enough that we can have different styles of games out of it.

I would love to see a digital version of Battlefleet Gothic with the 'hot seat' feature of the Bloodbowl game they are making. As I understand it, each player takes their turn while in control of the game just like the turn based game it is based on. With Battlefleet Gothic having a campaign against my friends to see which fleet will be able to control the cluster, including all the repair times and importance of planets, would be something I would play a great deal for.

I would also quite enjoy a necromunda style game, in which I control and build up a gang of fighters from the underhive as they struggle to become a power in the depths of a hiveworld. A 3rd person game allowing me to give orders to each person is how I see it, where I direct the leader and his team but do not see the world only from the viewpoint of a single one.

The first person games often point out how they have to shift the balance of power to support the gamer. A single fire warrior in the game of the same name kills hundreds of guardsmen and chaos marines alone. In the universe itself he should not have been able to take on a squad of ten guardsmen alone. The other games all push up the important of the player which loses (at least in my mind) the meanlessness of a single individual in a galaxy at war. (I also have the same problem with a number of the books, having a single character with a rusty knife slaying Tyranid warriors while remembering back to his training two hundred years back and his personal thanks from his primarch in a similar situation is a bit much for me.)

Just one last thought here. A game that allows you to fight from space using Battlefleet gothic, through Epic table top battle to a 40K scale battle down to an inquistor (three to five people a side) battle would be fun as well. I've done it on a table top over the course of a weekend but it took a bunch of planning. A game that allows for it to happen in a couple of hours of playing would be nice.

Sure he could, if they missed and he didn't (or through use of cover). Is it likely? No. Is it possible? Absolutely.

I really wouldnt mind seeing a 40k shooter that doesnt suck like fire warrior did. I think gears of war makes a good base for it. Though I wouldnt mind first person either.

Inquisitor FPSRPG.

They could make it like L4D but with an over arching plot, exp and the likes.

They need to remake Final Liberation, it was the only Epic scale game they seemed to do and in general it got a really good reception.

Remaking that now with newer technologies would be amazing.

Otherwise from your list I would have to pick the Homeworld battlefleet gothic concept, that sounds like a great idea

I got posts!
My vote went to Flashpoint as I would love the detail. Gears was meant to be the other extrema. Just a hint, some options were in jest but I will say no more.
And yes I should have added an epic game... or Alpha Centauri.

I want an FPS/RPG, where all the weapons are available, but you have to chose specialites. Like for Space Marines you start as a scout, move up to Scout Sergeant, then Devastator, then Marine, then go from there. AS marine, Terminator, vehicle crew, vehicle commander.

Do that for all the races, Necrons, Orks, Chaos, Tau, Guard, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Inquisition, etc.

A Mass Effect style RPG where you play as an Inquisitor. Though compared to Mass Effect you'd need less handholding with the story, so searching and rooting out the heretics actually requires searching different worlds.

I dont want an WH40K game to be another game with Wh40K plastered over it. I want it to be unique and true to the fighting in 40K. Something like a blaneblade commander.

Although Mass Effect could work would have to be an inquisitor or the like.
This^

Inquisitor the game would be utterly awesome.

Also, they need a planetside, where you pick a race and get thrown into the action in a huge MMOFPS spanning multiple planets and solar systems.

Gorkamorka! (A classic 40k spin-off in the vein of Necromunda, now sadly out of print)

An RTS/RPG hybrid, where you build up your tribe of orks to a full-grown Waaaaaaaaagh!, looting & scavenging junk to make their weapons, armour & vehicles

There was a squad based FPS shooter (including melee weapons) that was mostly CTF being made out of the quake engine in 98 called Chapter Honor. Never made it out of beta cause it was shutdown by Games Workshop I believe (wasn't being made by Games Workshop). Was wicked fun though. You'd join a side and spawn as a standard marine in your base but you'd have points to spend on equipment, other standard classes or hero classes. The more enemies you killed the more points you got to spend. It also used the rules of WH40k in real time so you had stats and when you shot it would do a roll taking into account your equipment and stats and enemy armor and stats to see if you wounded him. There were also various chapters the game might pick to use on the map and they could change your stats (ie. one chapter might better in melee or ranged). Nothing like being a chapter master in terminator armor, with a force field, wielding lightning claws.

Was one of the funnest times I've had gaming.

Given how a few of the surviving Primarches were last seen heading for the Eye of Terror or the Webway, you may have just come up with the single most awesome hack 'n' slash ever, or the biggest 40K letdown ever.
