Even Descartes renounced the I think therefore I am argument before he died. It doesn't really make any sense. It assumes that all thinking things must exist which he doesn't define.Dr Snakeman said:Well, I'm going to side with Descartes on this one. I am sure that I exist, since I think.
I am also sure that taking yourself too seriously is a terrible thing, and that everyone, myself included, is an idiot.
I am sure that people are not basically good, but neither are they inherently evil. They are just people, and it is what they do that makes them good or bad. And yes, I did get that from Blood Diamond.
I am sure of a lot of things, but I'm not going to go into detail. My life's philosophy really just boils down to one concept: "You know what? Fuck it. I'm going for it." I haven't had this outlook for very long, and it conflicts with the personality I've had for most of my life, so I still have trouble following it. Still, I'm convinced that it's the best way to go about living.
And that's what I'm sure of.

Are there any ways that you can think of that would make these things not true? I certainly can. Therefor, by the simple fact that that we can think of a situation (however absurd) when these things could not be true, they are not 100% possible. They can be 99% possible, they can be 99.9999999999% percent possible, but they can never be 100% possible.TheEndlessSleep said:Life.BreakfastMan said:No, I am not 100% sure about anything at all. You are breathing.
You need sleep/food/water.
Everybody will die at some point.
Humans exist.
These are all certain, and I could go on.
there is only one God and this person wrong. Also history is something we will never fully understand.BENZOOKA said:There is no god, or any similar entity.
Not even this argument is 100% sound ! I can already hear Colonel Campbell's voice chastising me for creating this paradox : DBreakfastMan said:No, I am not 100% sure about anything at all.
