Mobile business model, enough obligatory monthly fees to sell the actual machine for $99.

Not that I'm planning to buy any console, but this would be the most spectacular way to go assimetric on Sony.

Honestly, just none of the anti used game BS. If both the PS4 and the Xbox 720 fulfill that I'll get whichever is cheapest. Simple as that.

I know it's business but Microsoft seems to be the prime evil of the three console overseers because the early failure rate of 360, I can't believe they seriously released and paying for online.

If this gen has taught us anything it's that consoles don't need games (launch of the ps3) or a working console (early 360) to survive.

I really hope this gen isn't as bad last gen for the next 360 and thats saying something because the 360 was the "best console" in term of games.

It could probably 'win' - what is likely going to be the most lackluster gaming generation in many years.
I would be surprised if it was worse then the last. But honestly, I literally can't even imagine things being any worse, that's why I am so hopeful. I just wish I could go back in time and warn my younger self.

Because we know almost nothing about it other than it's being made, it's really hard to say how it will fare. Although I'm going to be sticking with my 360 for a while after Microsoft's next console is released anyway.

Much too early to say, all we've heard about it are rumours. You ask me, microsoft want to hurry up and say something about it if they do have plans for the "nextbox" as we're calling it now. None of these rumours have been exactly good. Always on DRM, no backwards compatibility, so on.

What I want from it, though, would be a much larger standard hard drive, for one thing. I don't believe completely digital gaming to be the future, at least not the near future, download speeds need to be more consistantly good before people can start downloading whopping 8 GB+ games with little trouble, but it is, no doubt, becoming a big part of gaming, and I don't want to struggle for space like I have this gen.

Furthermore, I'm actually hoping the disk drive, and the backwards compatibility, is still there. And none of this "some games work, some games don't" BS either.

I'd also hope for a better UI, it's appalling that after so many updates, the xbox live marketplace can still be so annoying to navigate, taking an age to load up stuff like a particular game page, search result, and especially when you want to look at screenshots, which I swear to god sometimes don't come up at all.

Finally, no focus on bloody kinect. Come back to that one when the technology works precisely, microsoft, and without requiring practically a fucking warehouse to play with up to four people.

I really hope it matches the PS4 in terms of computing power. Otherwise it is going to hold back game development as devs want to sell games on both platforms. They will only develop games to the lowest speced system. Trust me I know these things, I have a PC.

Oh and Nintendo never figures into these things, maybe the WiiU will hold back development this next.generation.
