So my Friends, what are your most anticipated FPS games that are going to released this year?

Im mostly looking forward to Deus Ex MD but as for Pure FPS its between Doom and Shadow warrior 2. They are old school fast paced shooters that we have been waiting for years. Squadron 42 will also be one of the biggest game this year however its space sim mix with FPS.

I pay ZERO attention to pre-release...well...anything really. I don't exactly avoid it but I don't seek anything out either so the only thing I know is based off the name and what little I see.

So with that disclaimer out of the way, I'm most curious about "Homefront Revolution" (gotta get the curve ball in there early as I can't imagine it's going to get a lot of votes).

The original Homefront was not great. However, it did have a few gleams of potential (like your Korean ally being attacked because he's Korean and therefore the enemy) that the original did nothing with and I'd like to think that a sequel will take what should have been an interesting setting and concept and actually doing something with it. Out of the games listed, Revolution probably has the highest chance of not being very good but it does have my interest piqued.

to me homefront looks utterly generic.

And that's fine, you're allowed to think that. To me, Shadow Warrior 2 looks boring (I hate arcadey shooters like Serious Sam and it looks a lot like Serious Sam) and Doom 3 did nothing to impress me and I don't see what Doom is doing to set it apart (I saw "Clueless Gamer" with Conan playing it and all it looked like was a gorier version of Doom 3). You may be right and Revolution will be a generic mess while Shadow Warrior/Doom will be different than what I expect but frankly, until any game comes out I don't give them any credit. Any game can look good before it's released so I find no real need to pay attention to them until they actually come out and give me some real life footage with some real live reviews.

Different folks, different strokes.

Doom, but only because I am an old school Doom player from way back. I have pretty much given up on the FPS genre since MW3, and other than Doom, the only other FPS I would bother with would be Battlefield Bad Company 3 (if they made it).

I never played old Shadow Warrior, so it has no real meaning to me.

I suppose of those I am most excited for Overwatch. At this point I am just desperate for a good multiplayer shooter with a minimal amount of bullshit. The genre has really disappointed me lately, especially my former favorites like Battlefield and Halo so maybe a new IP is what I need to jump back in.

There are still microtransactions that make me groan and I'm already sick of moba elements in shooters, but with Overwatch that thankfully seems the only "modern" shooter trend that seems to be in the game.

I am also interested in Doom, but from what I've seen I already want a mod that would double or triple the speed of the killmoves because it looks like the game comes to a screeching halt every time one activates.

Right first of all I am not a fan of FPS really. I have been burnt out on them since Halo 2.

OT: Probably Overwatch although really it depends if some of my friends get it as I wont buy it if its just me. Saying im excited for it would probably be an overstatement lets just say its one of the very few I am even considering buying.

None of them. First-person shooters are played out.

I prefer third person for the greater field of view, the sense of where your feet are and the ability to look around while moving forward. In first person, looking to the side means stopping a run. It gets old, constantly having a gun in your view while moving around like a robot.
but only generic ones. not old school PC fast paced Shooters my friend.

Do you think Doom is gonna continue that? From what I saw so far it seems they are going more for spectacle, where they freeze the action by making you watch some pre-made kill animation.

I think Deus Ex will blend old and new school better and be a much better game

Shadow Warrior 2 - Picked the first one up on a steam sale and it was so much better and more fun than I was expecting, also loved its old school run and gun vibe and the controls for demon magic were really well done.

Do Deus Ex and Star Citizen count? Deus Ex is a TPS at best and Star Citizen might have FPS elements, but no-one's buying it for those elements. Well, not that I'm aware of at least.

Anyway, as for me, it's easy a contest between Doom, Battleborn, and Overwatch. Overwatch looks like fun - love the aesthetic, love the world, and it being by Blizzard is a plus, but its lack of singleplayer is the clincher. Battleborn I like for its aesthetic as well, and has the benefit of singleplayer, but appears to have less interesting heroes. Doom looks like it will be fun, but to be honest, I kind of have a love-hate relationship with the first two Doom games, and there's elements of the reboot that vex me (in that the series is being rebooted yet AGAIN, and is willingly going backwards in terms of storytelling), but on the other hand, looks fun.

Overall, I'll say Doom. Overwatch is easily a close second, but its lack of singleplayer and pricing scheme (a perfectly fair pricing scheme mind you) edges it out.

Doom here. Then Deus Ex, then Shadow Warrior 2, but that's only *much* later once it goes down in price. I did have fun with the Shadow Warrior revival but it's not something I crave these days. Totally nothing wrong with the game, it had it all, the secrets, the humor, the fast-paced gameplay, I thought the mix of melee and ranged was even nicely done/balanced.

Just really keen to see what they do with Doom. Yeah it may not be quite Doom as people remember or whatever, but so what. I learned years ago to judge every game on it's own merits. I don't like what Assassin's Creed is nowadays, although I loved the first, so I just move on and stay away. Resident Evil is nothing like the series I first got into, but I still find them great games 'till today. Hell, Duke Nukem was a platformer originally, didn't stop me playing the shit out of Duke Nukem 3D though did it.

I intend to buy Overwatch. Should scratch an itch, but I suspect I'll get bored of it fast.

Mankind Divided looks dull. Human Revolution was an unusual game in that it seemed pretty good to begin with but then somehow got worse every time I looked at it. MD just looks like more of the same. A mediocre shooter bolted to a mediocre stealth game in that way that makes both aspects worse, the stealth is pointless because if you get spotted you can just shoot everybody and the combat is made stupidly easy because all the enemies are spread out with their backs to the door staring at walls to accommodate the stealth. Plus all the toys and abilities they give you are all less efficient than the ol' just-shoot-him-in-the-head. Oh, and I don't trust those developers to write a decent... anything really. They spent the last game frantically licking the boots of the original Deus Ex to the detriment of absolutely everything. ("It's the Illuminati! Again! No, really!")

Doom... meh. I'm already sick of those execution animations and the game isn't even out yet. If it wasn't for the venerable title on the box hardly anybody would spare this game a second glance and you all know it.

Shadow Warrior... I was bored of this series about 30% of the way through the previous game. Incredibly repetitive. You circle strafe while either holding down the trigger or using the windup sword attack. Repeat until victory.

Doom is real FPS with no iron sight, regen health and cover system and 2 weapon limits. sure it has meelee animation but other than everything looks excellent. its probably most manliest and badass game i have seen.

My list in order

Titan fall 2 (that's this year right?)
Overwatch
Doom

but I will probably wait to see reviews for these as modern shooters are often terrible and I'm not putting out the money till I've seen some game play footage from fans.
