I can't play FPS on consoles. After playing Golden Eye, I could never play another game with a regular controller. By majority, I don't pay FPS at all other than the two I've mentioned because of their RPG/story elements.B-Cell said:LOL. you must only played console shallow FPS my friend.Odbarc said:All FPS are the same except those with story and RPG elements.
games like Doom and shadow warrior 2 are far from generic infact shadow warrior reboot was best FPS in recent year and Lo wang is one of the most badass manly protagonist.Odbarc said:I can't play FPS on consoles. Valve do not make games anymore so half life 3 is not coming anytime soonflying_whimsy said:half-life 3 /thread
Mate, Doom is the definition of shallow and generic contextually. The space marine and "Prometheus Story" (referring to Hell there, and even that is probably giving Doom far too much credit in regards to any thematic significance) existed beforehand, but were quickly surpassed within the medium (Marathon and Half-Life respectively). I'll give Doom credit for its gameplay, but that's about it. Certainly I hold GoldenEye in higher regard on both the gameplay and story front (not that GoldenEye's story was special, but Doom's can probably be summed up in a sentence).B-Cell said:games like Doom and shadow warrior 2 are far from generic infact shadow warrior reboot was best FPS in recent year and Lo wang is one of the most badass manly protagonist.Odbarc said:I can't play FPS on consoles. Lol, I remember that dude.... The similarities are quite pronounced, aren't they? I've been watching the OP's thread creations with....erm....interest....McElroy said:I chose Homefront Revolution because I'm a rebel *wink-wink*. A question to the op: you wouldn't happen to be related to this guy?[link]http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/TheGamerElite33[/link] Or did you just forget your password? The similarities are above mere coincidence. Not wanting to make fun of you or anything, just curious.
I mean if you really are two different people I'll be mindblown to next year.
No no no, you are quite mistaken. Over the years the FPS has subdivided into subgenres.B-Cell said:Doom is real FPS with no iron sight, regen health and cover system and 2 weapon limits. sure it has meelee animation but other than everything looks excellent. its probably most manliest and badass game i have seen.
Last time Doom was released 12 years ago and new Doom is long awaited sequel where as we see COD and Halo every single year.Hawki said:Doom is the definition of shallow and generic contextuall

Would either of them count as an FPS? Most of Primal's combat seems to be based on using animals and short-ranged attacks, with nothing outstripping a bow in distance. As for Mirror's Edge, assuming it's like the original, while there's guns, if you rely on them, you're doing it wrong. I'd categorize them as action-adventure games rather than shooters per se.distortedreality said:is the new Mirrors Edge out this year? If so, I'll vote for that.
Has there actually been any gameplay released for that yet?Valiance said:Space Hulk: Deathwing?
I'm actually looking forward to that. Sniff...Valiance said:Battleborn? (Just kidding)
You...do realize that you haven't even responded to the above point, right? That Doom is shallow in terms of setting and context? I.e. nothing to do with gameplay?B-Cell said:Last time Doom was released 12 years ago and new Doom is long awaited sequel where as we see COD and Halo every single year.Hawki said:Doom is the definition of shallow and generic contextuall
games like Doom and shadow warrior are what FPS genre really need. no regen health, cover system, aim down sight that slowdown gameplay instead fast paced over the top twitch shooters.
Halo has been yearly iteration since 2007 only one year leftHawki said:That Halo has never had an annual release cycle
Okay, seriously? This is the second time you've intentionally misconstrued my original post. For reference, the full line was "That Halo has never had an annual release cycle FOR ITS MAIN SERIES. So, looking at that list, per my original post and its intention, we're left with:B-Cell said:Halo has been yearly iteration since 2007 only one year leftHawki said:That Halo has never had an annual release cycle
