I...really have no idea what to think about this game. On one hand it's being developed by a company that had a lot of people that used to work at Bungie and that they have stated that they actually want to move the games in a new direction so that it doesn't get repetative but still keep a halo feel. On the other hand, it's clear that some of these changes are going to be drastic, Halo never exactly focused that much on it's characters, and 343 has stated that it wants to explore the minds of Chief and Cortana. Also they're going to start coming out once a year, giving me a nasty feeling that it's going to come down with COD syndrome.

So...what do you think?

I'll almost certainly give it a playthrough. I've enjoyed the series well enough in the past.

Personally I don't know how It'll turn out. I haven't been keeping up with it and probably won't until some trailers start to come out. I'm confident that it'll be good seeing as a lot of the team who worked on the original Halo trilogy stayed on at 343.

They'd better change it up a lot, because this series is painfully tired at this point. A classic example of running a good franchise straight into the ground.

People complain a game doesen't try something new, then they complain that the new addition sucks, making it another game.
You're damned if you do and you're damned if you dont.

I enjoyed the first game, I loved Halo 2 (except the end), I couldn't force myself to finish Halo 3.

I think dragging another trilogy out of this franchise... I don't REALLY want to give my honest opinion because I don't want to piss of the people who somehow enjoyed the Halo storyline that I couldn't find interesting enough to finish. And I was up to the part when you were going to a ship which had crashed, or something like that.

I've gotten them all up to Reach, and now I just don't care. There's nothing wrong with the games... in fact they're really, really good. Probably my favourite First Person Shooter series (though that isn't saying too much), but I just feel like I've played enough Halo for one lifetime now.

Unless the next game is something completely different (which will piss off almost every fan other than me) I'll just give it a pass, or maybe pick it up when it's cheap.

They're making a Halo 4? *checks internet*

They're making a Halo 4. *shrugs*. I don't have an XBox, anyway.

Yeah, they ran into this problem with Reach. People are STILL whining about it "Not being a real Halo game". Personally I loved it, which is why I'm hoping that 343 keeps heading in that direction...a lot of people won't like it though."

This may sound silly, but I loved every Halo game. They were just fun. Nothing ever felt tired to me, because each game offered something new. Halo 3 gets overlooked the most, even though it introduced probably one of the coolest additions to a game I've ever played, in the form of the Forge mode. When they tweaked it to damn near perfection in Reach, I was in heaven. Will I get Halo 4? Yeah, probably. Halo was the first console FPS that enticed me, and it has yet to lose its luster.

And that's fine, they can take a hike. A lot of old school Half-Life fans were pissed about Half-Life 2 being a complete departure from the first game; the rest of us were glad we got something new. I'd rather these franchises err on the side of newness than risk becoming so stale.

"Don't know". I really want it to be awesome. I really hope it is. I really have no clue how it'll turn out, so I'll wait to gauge the reaction from the fans (not the critics, they'll be just as head-over-heels with praise as with all the other Halo games) before I buy it.

I really hope they throw a completely new story arc into the mix. The Flood/Covenant story arc is over, I don't want 343 to try and stretch it out for a whole 'nother trilogy.

I thought the sad cliffhanger ending at the ending of halo 3 was perfect. They did not need to make halo 4

Completely disagree. I dont think keeping it the same is the only answer, but always radically changing it isn't. That's what new IP's could be for.

I'm cautious. I hoped Microsoft would give the series a 5-10 year break before making another Halo game.

343, despite being made of ex-bungie employees, may just not have the "Bungie" feeling in their games.

After no bad Halo games, (I've loved ALL of them). I just hope they don't can it with this one.

That's not really my point. They don't need to turn Halo into a 3rd person platforming submarine sim, but recycling the same gameplay ad nauseum is not going to cut it either. You can introduce large gameplay changes without destroying the core of the game. The Elder Scrolls have done that with every single game.

I've heard Reach was a good step in that direction, but I haven't played the campaign yet.

I'm not keeping my hopes up really. 343 can be made of ex-bungie employees, sure. I'm not to sure if they will keep the same lovable chief though. I mean they want to explore his character more but I am not to sure how you do that with a mostly silent protagonist like him. I just hope they leave his helmet on. Let's keeps the mystery. I don't think I shall be buying it, i'm not to optimistic.

My initial reaction was a sigh accompanied with a thought of "They really won't let this go will they?". The really disturbing thing was announcing THREE new Halos.

I was wondering how they were going to pull a story out of it, because Halo 3 practically wrapped everything up, but leaving a slight cliffhanger for fans to wonder about. I wasn't expecting a continuation. There seemed to be no enemy left.

I would like some change. Halo does get stale after a while. My favourite one was actually ODST, because it used the oppurtunity of focusing on different characters to be a different game. I was actually slightly disappointed because I don't think it was different enough. I think it would've been better if they made it longer, and made the city more diverse, and not make it level based. I enkoyed the flashbacks as a way to tell the story, but replaying the game makes actually exploring the streets seem rather pointless.

Now that they've said about focusing on characters...I'm slightly interest to find out what that means, because it could mean nice changes, but to me this still has the stink of "cash-in". Especially since its original team thought to end it at 3. However I am aware that quite a lot fo Bungie employees now work at 343.
