I originally had the most trouble with the Stray Demon, but once you get his pattern down he's not that difficult.

As for areas, Tomb of Giants. Those fucking skeleton dogs are assholes. Plus I only had so many light charges.

Blight Town. I fucking hated that place so much...

I started with the Skeleton Key, but I wanted to go all the way through to see if there was "any useful treasure along the way".

I wouldn't care if the treasure there is god-tier. I'm never going all the way through there again.

I'm amazed Tomb of the giants is at #1 so far. The bit in the dark is easy if you take it slow and follow the lights (or if you just buy the light spell..). Grave Lord Nito is also dead easy as a boss, not that any of the last few are particularly tricky, perhaps with the exception of the kings.

Anor Londo on the other hand is a pain in the arse no matter what you do, be it either the Dragon slayer archers or the giants with healing and knockback. Not to mention Fatboy slim on NG+ can be absolutely horrible until you get the technique right.

The undead dog creatures can be a little painful, but using a greatshield turns that right around.

FPS drops in Blighttown can be irritating first time round, but other then the toxic shooters the mobs are generally pretty easy in that area, Quelaag is also fairly simple compared to some others.

I love Dark Souls so much.
The only things to give me huge problems were blighttown at first, executioner smough and dragonknight whatever(i quit for a week due to them), and nito. Luckily the Black Knight Greatsword let me destroy everything eventually >:D.

So far, everything leading up to about five minutes beyond the Asylum Demon.

Because that's all I've managed to complete.

This fucking game...
Don't let it taste your anger, it feeds on it, devours your frustration to soothe it's savage hunger and then, when you think you have the upper hand, it will slap your ***** ass to the ground and feed some more...

Blighttown only because of the frame rate and poision, going throught the game alot quicker in NG+ only got 4 kings and bed of chaos to go(1st playthrough 85hrs, only at 35hrs in NG+)and bet ornstein and smough the harder way in NG+, plus i dont think the game is as hard as some people say it is

Ahhhhh i got so many lols from reading the replys as most of the things mentioned i certainly relate to :)

Yeah... painted world probably should of got a mentions as well as LI... but only 8 options, and i found that one particularly easy myself. The crowbitches can eat a massive undead dick though.

Blighttowns framerate is the reason it wasn't an option, becaues that issue was more frustrating than any gameplay.

NG+ New Londo was pretty bad.. the agro radius on darkwraiths was insane.. one false step and you'd have six of them on your ass. And 4 kings in NG+ was a nightmare and took me soooooo long to get through. Tried so many tactics after how easy normal mode was. Ended up being Captain America shield spam= win for me. Glad i did it before the nerf.

On another note, the painted world was one of my favourite areas... was gorgeous... and i almost couldn't bring myself to kill priscilla... but i wanted her dagger.. which still eludes me, the only "Tail" weapon i do not have ><

I can't really say any one area was worse than the others for me personally. It was a conglomerate of every ledge, cliff, rickety wooden bridge, and tree limb. For every death caused by an enemy hitting me and killing me, I died probably 15 times to falling.

And the ledges in Anor Londo made no sense whatsoever. I'm in full stone gear with a shield and a spear, wtf am I standing on!?

No Blighttown eh? Uh what's the name of the place that opens up right after you get the bells rung? The one with the lizard people? Maybe that one once if i finish it.

Otherwise Demon Fucking Ruins. Whoever designed the map layout needs to be taken out and shot. "oh hey let's put a OHKO boss right after the bells!" You're the fucking reason my main character is now abandoned Ceaseless Discharge. 45000 souls lost. That's like... 10 levels!
There's a trick to killing the Ceaseless Discharge. There's a path in the middle of the area where you fight him, through the big rock. Fiddle around in there, get him on the side you entered, and just keep dodging his blows and hitting his tentacle. I beat him that way after only a couple tries. If you're quick on your feet, you can do it without getting hit once (though as a precaution getting the fire resistant armor nearby is a good idea.)

EDIT: Hm, right, guess I should answer. If not Blight Town, probably the forest area (I forget the name) just because of the amount of trouble I had with it first time through. I can blow through it now easily but I've yet to go back to the game after ringing both bells so I've yet to get to a place that gave me that much trouble.

Except for Blight Town.

Fuck that place.

Threads like this make me cry.....

Most frustrating part for me was the first 5 or 6 hours trying to learn the game's mechanics and rules with no help from the game.
Your suffering was delicious.
On topic, New Londo for one reason: there aren't any bonfires. Trying to get all the items and getting to the boss is just a pain. And it is the second hardest/hardest boss in the game, so you will have to go from Firelink Shrine to there a lot. And fuck Darkwraiths.
Actually, with a good weapon and the hornet ring, you can one-shot/close-enough the dark wraiths with a backstab. And they are similar enough to Silver Knights that after Anor Londo it is really easy to take them on as long as you take them one at a time.

OT: Tomb of the Giants until you know what to do (i.e. run to the first bonfire, get nearby loot, run to second bonfire, get nearby loot, run past all the enemies until Paladin Leeroy, then run past the rest until you get to Pinwheel-minions). Anor Londo archers, simply because it seems very ... luck-based, for me. And at the highest rank, I have Lost Izalith. Not because of the Bounding Demons, or because of the hordes of dragon-statues followed by Kirk AND a Witch of Ilazith, but because of the Bed of Chaos knocking me down holes[footnote]One playthrough, I made it beneath the Bed of Chaos after releasing both fire-arms, was low on stamina (I'd used the Eagle shield's ridiculous Stability to block the arm swipes) and was ever-so-slowly hacking my way through the branches. Just before I got to the core maggot it used the AoE firestorm attack, which hit and killed me[/footnote]. The only saving grace for that boss is that your progress isn't lost.

I... never really got stuck anywhere in Dark Souls.

I heard horror stories about Lost Izalith pre-patch though. However, when I got there after the patch it was rather easy since the aggro ranges on those undead dragons were pretty low and you could just walk by most of them.

Anyway, I suppose the Abyss and the Four Kings fight were somewhat difficult, but then I took off all my armour, equipped my trusty Man Serpent Greatsword +15, went hyper mode and killed all of them quite handily without taking a hit.

I'm honestly surprised Lost Izalith is not one of the options., specifically with Bed of Chaos in mind. I've never had much of a problem with the other areas, even TotG became a cakewalk once I equipped Sunlight Maggot and could use my shield freely. And Blight Town, well... Fuck Blight Town. Even the game admitted as much.

Which one had the first Capra demon? I had kinda assumed up to that point that blocking was worthless versus Bosses, little did I know you needed to versus him!
You had trouble with him? Just dodge backwards.

Tomb of the Giants for me because I did it without a light source my first time through. What a nightmare. The giant skeleton dogs are one of the few enemies in the game for which I don't have a strategy that works 100% of the time.

Second would be Blighttown because of the tricky platforming, poor lighting, crappy framerate, mucky swamp, poison damage, the toxic blow dart guys, plus Quelaag has a lot of health. but that isn't an option.

Next to that is probably Anor Londo because of the archers and S&O. On my second character I was playing through rather quickly and keeping my level low for PvP reasons. When I got to S&O I was level 45 and my best weapon for killing Ornstein was the Occult Club you find in the basement. Took me many, MANY retries to do that fight with those conditions. I would have been better off farming souls to make a new weapon but I wanted to rise to the challenge.

Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith is a close follow-up because of.. everything in Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith.

Yeah i said earlier LI escaped my mind when creating the options, and being limited to 8 options kinda sucked.

I'd have to say Blighttown. Not because it was difficult, but because I came back to Firelink Shrine after beating it, and realized the firekeeper was dead. I mean seriously? Couldn't I have gotten a little warning before that happened?
If I had known that guy was going to kill her, I would've just killed him the second I found him.
They did the same thing in Demon's Souls but at least that guy looked evil. And he only managed to kill one random, useless NPC before I figured it out and killed him.
Really, the maniacal laughter every other sentence didn't tip you off? He was the most obvious villain since Dr. Evil.

Not to mention he's got the same freakin' weapons as Yurt. I knew he'd end up killing someone as soon as he opened his mouth.

"ominous sentence"

*insert evil chuckle*

I will end this douche

I'm surprised how many votes Tomb of Giants has. I actually found that easy, not to mention Nito was a walk in the park, both on normal and new game+, for me anyway, everyone's different I suppose.

The most frustrated I got must have been with the four kings on new game plus. I had to run around the whole game collecting items to optimize my defense against them. However, Gwyn was a pain in the ass until I kept walking around a stalagmite.

Sen's fortress did give me some hassle actually, but it took about three deaths to get through it. The Iron Golem caused me more hassle than the other bosses did before him, even though he's actually quite easy really, but I just kept failing at dodging his grab attack >_>. (Funny thing actually, I started a new character and saw a summon sign so I used it. This guy just completely wrecked the Golem and actually knocked him off the platform, it was so awesome.)
