If given the option, I'll usually play a Mage-type class. To me, a large part of games is escapism (no Escapist pun intended) and magic is something we'll never be able to do in real life. I also always liked fantasizing about shooting fireballs from my hands or something else as a kid and that's never really gone away.

In real life? I would probably be one of the people who needs the 100 rabbits in my garden killed, and I would hire some aspiring adventurer to do it.

In games I usually play as a rogue or mage. I used to love playing as warriors, but it's gotten boring in most games nowadays.

I vary between Rogue/Thief, Ranger and Medic. I suppose my style is to provide offensive or defensive support; I also prefer to fight dirty, and I'm not as muscular as a Warrior or Monk.

Paladin. Give me a set of interpenetrate armor, a big sword and let me call down the Zeus bolts on my enemies and the healing goodness on my allies. Ahhhh, right!

I am the Purple Mage. Of course I can't cast magic, but I am THE Purple Mage. Therefore, no game can fully simulate what it's like to be me but with the ability to cast magic. The closest I found though was D&D 4.0. You can make the character exactly how you like and the Storm Sorcerer was tailor made for my tastes.

I don't know how, because I've not talked to anyone at WotC... but that class is so eerily close to what I look for in magic that I'm still wondering if they had me in mind when they designed the Storm Sorcerer.

I tend to play a necromancer/warlock type when given the chance, mainly because they tend to have the kind of spells that I like (summoning minions, life draining and DOTs), though I just as often go for a rogue-type.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

I'm sorry, what was the question? Too busy blowing things up with Fireball spells to be able to hear.

I'm not voting because none of my preferred options are on the poll.

I tend to prefer playing a Battle Mage type or a Duelist type of character. I prefer hybrid types over pure types anytime, every time.

I usually go with wizard/sorcerer/mage/witch/whatever-the-thing-with-the-flashy-magic-is-called.
Because choosing to play a game in a fantasy setting doesn't mean I have lost the desire to kill my enemies with copious amounts of explosions and/or in the flashiest manner possible.

I would go with the necromancer/warlock but so few games do it well or nterestingly that I'm going to have to go with the mage/sorcerer/wizard thingy.

I normally go with thief/rogue or something similar, mostly because I can sort off relate to that class, but lately I'm not sure I want to play myself and have become more interested in stuff like barbarian and thins like that, though to be fair I'd hardly qualify as a thief nowadays, but I'm just to comfortable with that class, so I tend to go back to it, it's always been the class I choose so I don't know if I should change it even though I want to.

The wizardy work-my-way-up-through-the-levels-until-I-have-access-to-totally-nuclear-missile-class-magic archetype. Anything that gives me long range, good damage and the ability to send a few minions to get hacked to pieces in my place while I turn the battlefield into a crater at high levels, or cause minor sunburn when just starting.

Not sure Paladin completely sums it up. I'm a combat medic, I tend to play classes that can heal team mates, but mainly I like to be self-sufficient and able to heal myself. If I can do this entirely freeform, I'd probably be a longbow type as well, but if I'm only going to do glancing shots I'd go for a two-hander melee and have some actual power. I'm also an atheist and I don't appreciate being associated with holiness.

So...a regenerating berserker who occasionally heals his allies. Which is ridiculous, so paladin it is.

For the record, in RPGs I generally am just a barbarian, but with a twist, whatever that may be. In Skyrim for example it was self-healing and enchanting, which come to think of it, is pretty close to what I described above.

Single player I'll go ranged/stealth if possible - sniper rifles in Deus Ex, bows in Oblivion etc.

MMOs I play a bit of everything, but in fantasy usually lean to warriors. Lurking at the back watching cast bars is far less interesting than just diving into the thick of things with sword and shield.

I sit firmly between Mage and Ranger, raining arrows down from afar with accuracy, burning and annihilating everything else with magic. from the shadows.

Though not my choice in most games, people describe me as a paladin. I usually play rouge type, its all about dealing the biggest Numbers as fast as possible.

Definitely Ranger. I'm not the strongest person around but I can use a sword if I need to. Would much rather stand back and volley arrows from afar.

I like being whatever lets me survive everything while also melting everything in front of me. So pretty much the Engineer from Torchlight II (although some of the unique bosses can still one-shot me through Forcefield and 5k health and 1100 armor. >:C)

The TL2 Berserker is fun too. Mine is kinda prone to getting burst, but if she gets rolling, she'll rip through bosses in seconds without dropping from full health.

Captcha: bond, james bond

You know, Bond actually kind fits the description for me. Melts everything, doesn't die.
