I usually end up playing something relatively simple, but take a sort of leadership role amongst friends, or play something relatively complicated and rip the shit out of everyone.

If, as the result of some sort of great cosmic event, I did decide to play an MMORPG, I'd probably be a Paladin; able to fight and heal.
now, you say this like you would never in the world play an mmorpg, and yet you know the basic role of a paladin, something i didn't even know. lol oh shame
Not all paladins are in MMOs.
but where else would paladins be described as healers?
D&D: Paladins are secondary healers.

D&D Paladins, while clearly not the best healer in the game, are still healers.

Kind of a big deal, too.
tabletop role playing games and online role playing games, 2 sides of the same coin (no, i am not going to argue about why whoever might hate tabletop roleplaying games, or why whoever might hate m m o role playing games. i'm just saying they both have the role playing element)

The question was about MMOs. Tabletops aren't MMOs. That was the only point I was trying to make.

I am ALWAYS an archer. I don't even know why beyond the fact that I'm a sneaky little coward but sign me up as a rogue.

I'm not one for MMO anything, but on that rare occasion I am playing an MMO game, I'm almost always a healer.

Yeah, I've played a few non-online games that use the Paladin class including Warcraft II & III (not World of Warcraft) and Neverwinter Nights.

I will never play a healer. Ever.

However, I love to play the tank, because in real life I have noodle arms, so a change is always nice. Plus it's nice to be the guy who gets to jump into the fray without fear.

Probably a warrior.

Because there aren't many songs about healers and mages, are there?
"The Way of the Warrior" is but a few.

Funnily enough, in the (admittedly few) MMORPGs I've played, I've yet to see much actual role play on said games. That is, I've yet to see anyone creating a believable character and only equipping them with with items and abilities that make sense for said character. Meanwhile, I see this almost every time I play tabletop, so...

Also, Mage, because I like battlefield control (in the form of buffs and limiting the number of enemies who can engage us at once) and occasionally I like to be able to bail out my allies with a well placed fiery ball of death...

Rogue, thief, assassin, whatever they call it in that specific game.

The stealthy guy. That's me.

I would imagine I'm the ranger/Rouge. I enjoy the more stealthy bits of games, and I never really got a good firm grasp of how to behave as a machine to soak up damage.

Usually I'm the support player. I stay away from the enemies and help my friends when they need help.

Playing a cleric, (Especially in DnD) is thoroughly enjoyable. I love being able to protect my party, heal them after a good fight, and being able to enter the melee as well. Seeing as Clerics are no slouches themselves. Also, having the entire life of your party in hand is quite an empowering feeling.

I selected fighter, but that seemed the closest to my variant of the rogue that I play - run up and stab them in the face.
