Well, there are several reasons I will not use Origin:

- I already have Steam and I don't want to end up with half my games on Steam and half on Origin.

- Origin isn't much better than spyware, and I don't want it on my system.

- Steam has awesome deals almost constantly, and I very much doubt that Origin can or will compete with them.

Ultimately, it just comes down to the fact that we aren't given a choice whether or not we want to use Origin STEAM; it is being forcing on us, and if we don't install it then we can't play their games... by doing this they are making it so that I am not buying their games as well as just not using their client. It is a terrible business move in my opinion, and I assume we will see that reflected in their sales of BF3 in comparison to BFBC2.
But the sales....
/Sarcasm
I'm tired of all this hypocrisy.

[Edit] I did note your other points, you may have those, I just took issue when you stated that ultimately... the only reason you don't like it is because you're a hypocritical fanboy. I know that term is largely used as an insult but I honestly couldn't produce an equivalent at this time, no hostility intended.

Like I said; I recognise your other complaints and, in fact, I share those exact sentiments.
I just don't give Valve a free pass like most people around here...

B. I actually like Steam and the only way I would buy games from EA is if Origin was abandoned and I could use Steam.

I'm not going to risk losing my game library for clicking the wrong server in bf3. Thats stupid.

More Competitive, but I can't see that option there. All I can see is 'competative', whatever that is.

Joking about grammar aside, I wish they would try to match Steam's usefulness instead of just removing games from Steam and forcing all of the other places to use Origin. Steam does the same thing but more widespread, and I wish they wouldn't, but it was always an option for the other companies not to use Steam.
I'd like it if EA offered activation codes for multiple places, as well as not to use any program with their games. Then they might look better and not like it's just a poor attempt at taking some of Steam's sales revenue.

*EDIT* Also, don't have that stupid 'Released in Europe [period of time] after everywhere else' bullshit. I shouldn't even have to tell you about how charging £10 more for a game than ANYWHERE else is complete shit, either.

They would have to give me all of their games for free.

Or at least make it optional. The only reason they're insisting on their games using Origin is because they know if their game weren't Origin exclusive people wouldn't use Origin. Which means they know that Origin sucks. And because I know that, I won't use Origin. Ever.

Don't tie the EA games down to origin only would be a starter(I know steam does the same thing but unlike EA I trust them enough ...). But I don't think I would ever start using Origin myself, this would only make me see it as a legit digital distribution service.

so basecly... i expect to see origin die in a flaming ball of fire pretty damm soon.
With you, only way is if they were suddenly better at everything then steam, which won't happen.

I really dont understand all the fuzz about Origin!
People are so singleminded when things get different, I mean I hear people saying that Origin sucks and they hate that Battlefield 3 needs Origin to work. I will agree thats its a bit of a dick move form EA to force you to use it but at the same time, what did Activision do with MW2 and Black Ops?
And if my memory hasent faded away suddenly I seem to remember that Valve did this exact same thing when Steam was new and today you cant play a Valve game without Steam yet nobody complains about that.

All im saying is give Origin some time to grow in to the roll it has and how hard is it really to use another program to play games other then Steam? Not that hard is it!

D. Remove the scanning of everything I do on my computer. It's an invasion of my piracy and I have anti-virus software for this reason.

Assuming they did that I'd be happy to install it to play their games, although they'd have to go some to make me buy games from there. Between the interface being a pain, it being slow and steam just flat out slaughtering it at everything it tries to do, I can't see why I'd actually use it.

Also, to the guy above - I don't recall having to install or subscribe to anything from activision to play MW2?

Hilarious slip is hilarious!
Intentional or no?

Not an Activision owned platform, no, but I believe he was referring to the fact that they require Steam...

There is nothing they can do to change my mind at this point in time.

I already have Steam, with a rich library, and I have no need for a second client.
And they can offer me nothing that Steam cannot, apart from a few games I have no interest in.
Pretty much this. I'm set, but I think if they really wanted to appeal to a broader base they should avoid the trap Windows Live fell into, where they had only a few unique games, and for the rest forced the service onto unhappy gamers. Hopefully EA can do this without resorting to a threat of violence towards other publishers...
Honestly I picked up Origin to play my copy of Mass Effect after my CD drive broke, and I had nothing but problems with it, and I generally found it slower and clunkier than Steam. Eventually I just uninstalled it altogether, but the service keeps sending me updates about Battlefield 3, annoyingly enough.

Accidental actually. I clearly have a guilty conscience :p Further evidence why you should review what you're about to post.

I dunno if activision games required steam or not, I got MW2 on console, which required nothing. Origin requires you to register even on console as I understand it, which is a pain.

No harm done.

The two games the other fellow noted do require Steam. I wasn't aware that it was necessary to make an EA account just to play on console, that seems inconvenient... I mean I had to do it for Bad Company 2 on the PC but console players already have unique Live/PSN IDs.

Remove online DRM from the physical copy, and thus the need for Origin.

I can understand that digital copies need a bit of extra copy protection. When they add it to physical copies their intention seems to be to get more control than I find reasonable. When I buy a game I expect to be able to use it personally on my own terms, not EAs terms.

If they remove Origin from physical copies it would show that their intentions have changed and then I might even consider using Origin for buying digital copies.

Well the only thing that I would like is that if they won't invade my privacy and start scanning my PC to see what programs/applications I am using.

I really don't want them to know when I go watch porn(lol).
